Hello Riverdale Man In my fifth month of quit for about two weeks, the demon kept coming at me. Each time he comes your way tell him to GO AWAY and STAY AWAY. You know you are just going through a lull period and you know you DON'T want to and are NOT going to smoke. Don't even think about it not for 1 day, 1 hour, 1 minute, 1 second. You have quit and that is it. So stay quit. I suggest taking a luke warm shower than turn it to cold. That should shock you. Go to sleep early, you will be much better tomorrow. We expect you here to help cheer the rest of us up, and keep us from lighting up ourselves. Stick to it. I think this whole thing can just be sneaky. You have to drop the junkie just like you would drop any other jerk that you meet. I've imagined that I've smell smoke. I believe that quitting smoking is difficult because it is not a habit. it is a collection of habits, and each habit has to be broken when we come across it. We'll come across some habit more quickly and more often than others. That is why this fight goes on for so long. Remember, you can choose not to smoke. I care Riverdale Man, i just dont know what to say :( I felt the same yesterday so much that i could actually taste it and it tasted all so good. I vowed to myself that i would NEVER EVER pick up a cigarette again. Not One Puff Ever (N.O.P.E) You are 1 cig from a pack a day Better to be a non-smoker with the occasional desire for a cig, than a smoker with a constant desire to quit... PrincessC x

Hi Riverdale man, posts like these used to scare me :8o:So I have worked ont this for a while now. The way I see it, everything you do in life is a decision, we as adults are free to do what we choose to do Here is the key word) I CHOOSE every day NOT to smoke, after the decision is reaffirmed I work with the results of said decision, and if it gets overwhelming I talk to myself : hey you have decided not to smoke, you have to abide by your decision to stay true to yourself. One would think that after 5 months it would be a Ok, I don't know how long you've smoked? I smoked for 30 years, I now realise that I won't be free of it in 5 or 6 or even 8 months, might take longer, who knows?. I CHOOSE to work at it one day at a time and make the right choice everyday for as long as it takes. N.O.P.E. :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 791 Amount Saved: $208 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 23 Mins: 1 Seconds: 6

hi riverdaleman, i care too. Sometimes it just plain sucks, and your brain gets tired of thinking about your quit all the time. I have experienced this too, i try to think of other things, some days are harder. Im so proud of you, you have not given in to nicodemon, imagine he's on his last legs, so fight him harder now, eventually he will leave you alone..... we all have our off days... but you can turn it around, rechoice you are a non smoker, you are a CHAMP... hang tight... jeanigirl.. Riverdale Man, You asked why does my mind keep wandering back to smoking? Now a question for you: what alternative does it have that is better? I know your tired! You've put in a lot of effort into your quit these past 168 days! What have you gotten out of it? What are you still getting out of it? Are you keeping up with your rewards? Are your rewards important to you? If not, time to change them to something you value. Why would you work towards something you don't even care about? You wouldn't. They're suppose to put some fun into your quit! Start dreaming up possibilities! Keep strong, you've been such an inspiration to so many! Lean on us and we will see you through this tough spot!
