I like how MissyFit put it. It really puts everything into perspective. My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 397 Amount Saved: $104 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 14 Seconds: 43

I appreciate this thread because it has brought so many ideas and opinions to the table. Sometimes (I have to admit) I have been a little ashamed that I am not a calm, peaceful quitter but then again it is probably true that I am not always a calm, peaceful person. In life (outside of smoking) I have always needed to vent or express my feelings in order to "get them out" so that I can get past my emotional reaction and address issues in a calm, effective manner. Likewise, I often use this room to vent when I am going through a difficult time and it has been so important for me to be surrounded by people who care and understand. I wear my emotions on my sleeve which means that I love to share all the fun, I LOVE to laugh (and Gonna never fails to make me snicker), I love to celebrate the achievements of the people that I care about and I like to celebrate my own. I love that SCC has room for all of us and that we each have a "gift" to share with others in the room. Tks SCC'ers Windy My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 617 Amount Saved: $150 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 22 Mins: 19 Seconds: 12

Oi - remind me NEVER to mention names again....I forgot some VERY important people....but I'm not going to even try because I know that I will blow it again. Please blame it on my lapsing memory and know how much I appreciate all of you long-term, short-term quitters! More {{hugs}} for Gonna. You always RELIEVE my pain, anxiety and depression....You ARE sooooo GOOD for my health. I can't name every person in this thread (mainly because my memory capacity has diminished to the age equivalent of a one year old). This is a tough old process that we go through. I honestly couldn't imagine doing it alone....the amazing thing is that I have a "VIRTUAL" support system. My other friends/family hear things like "yep...the first 3 days are tough" "yep...i'm still quit" "yeah...i was a little stressed out the first week"....a LITTLE STRESSED OUT...YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING (but they don't know) I am a teeny wheeny bit envious of the members who have had an "easy" quit (ok...I'M REALLY REALLY JEALOUS) but they have been no less supportive of my experiences. Free, Coben, Healer, Mr. Ed to mention only afew. I also appreciate talking to those of you that have or are struggling because it means I'm not alone. (I won't mention names - we all know who we are) And then there's Phil and Phil...I get so confused! Marie - Don't ever leave...you help those of us that struggle to see the better days ahead. Gonna, Pink, Jan, Sparky, N2K, fish, one of the Phils and all the rest of us who are getting there - so glad we are in this boat together! By the way, Gonna, did you tell Pink that I had hairy legs???!! Anyway, enough blithering, today was a good day so I'll save my whining for another day. Love ya all! ex-slave: ---------- ... But, the most important ingredient is mental. NOPE has to be ingrained in our lives. It has to be the primary belief that will keep us smoke free. If you mentally make smoking NOT an option, you will be able to get through the craves, the triggers, and the temptations. None of us are perfect. My journey to becoming smoke free has been a LONG drawn out process. It has been difficult, to say the least. So, we all have to find our own way, as long as we get to the desired goal; freedom from nicotine. ... ----------- Very well said, Ex-slave! Thank you for sharing your story, much appreciated! :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 491 Amount Saved: $245 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 2 Mins: 50 Seconds: 58

Gonnadoit, you have such a positive outlook, I know you can make this quit work for you. YOu always cheer me up when i come here and I hope the rest of us can help you keep your quit. If it was easy there wouldn't be so many still addicted. Stay on the patch as long as you need to, don't rush it, afterall why would you want to start all over again. I know i don't and thats the only thing (and all you guys here) that kept me quit the last few days, the thought of starting all over. I too was like you Free. I had a high degree of addiction. Your post says exactly how my quit was for me. In my view... There is no magic pill but you DO have the power inside you to do and be the very best you can be. If you want something bad enough, you will get it. I wanted to be quit and i am. As we are reminded by the moderators, if your syptoms persist seek advise from a health professional as it may have been masking an underlying problem. PrincessC

((((GONNA DO IT))))) One day, sooner or later you are going to do it. Don't ever envy other quiters Gonna. You can do it as good as anyone else can. Once you have felt the feeling of relief you know that you can. Keep up the good work and post often here. 34 days is GOOD!!!
