Hello everyone, today is day 2 for me

Thanks everyone! You guys are so supportive. Today is tough to say the least, tougher than yesterday. I am sitting here with a straw between my fingers (thanks for that suggestion) I am doing the deep breathing techniques too, but I SO crave a cigarette. I can do this, I know I can, but today is SO hard. I am just pissed off in general, and my scalp has this odd sensation, not hurting just a tingling feeling. grrrr What about those fake cigarette things like ENDIT and some of the others, (no nicotine, i am already using the patches)? Has anyone tried those? Thank You all, This website is so great. It feels good to find people who have done this successfully and offer support from others. Oddly enough even though I have been smoking very heavily for some time, I didn't really share it with alot of people, so there aren't alot of people around me I talk to about this. My husband is great, and very supportive, but not a smoker, so it is hard for him to really grasp the magnitude of what this feels like for me. I am working through all the great tools here on the site. I love the idea of a reward system as Free suggested and the extra water intake is helping and must be good for my body anyway. I know when to expect some of my strongest cravings. The mornings when I first wake up, 30 mins. or so before the others, and I used to just sit back with my coffee and smoke. Now I am trying to walk, stretch and just get moving a little. I think it would be great if I could not only loose a nasty habit, but replace it with a healthy one. I realize some of my mistakes with a couple of past attempts to quit like not riding my home completely of cigarettes, trying to speed through the steps to save money, etc. So I don't intend to do make again. I am feeling pretty fair at the moment but I sure do crave that drawl/inhaling feeling. It is good to know alot of the physical symptoms will improve soon. I am just trying to stay busy (boy is my house getting clean today) :) Thanks everyone! Hi, I am so glad I found this site. Today is my second day smoke free! I have smoked for about 10 years, have tried to quit a couple of time before. I have been planning this for about a month, set my quit day, bought some patches, and here I am. I came online looking for ANYTHING that would help me get through this. I would love to smoke right this minute, but last night ( day 1) I wanted a smoke so bad I could have ate one if I had it! (but I didn't) Funny thing I have noticed is that I can already actually smell an ashtray now. My husband used to complain about the smell, but I couldn't really smell it. Well, thanks for reading my post. I will probably be posting more as I try to get through this. I CAN and WILL do this, my 3 kids are a big motivator for me and I just keep trying to focus on them. Congrats and good luck to everyone else!

Icandoit, Yes you can. Welcome to this great site. There is lots of info in here, and some fabulous people that do care. You have made a wonderful desicion to better your life. Your 3 girls will have a lot to be thankful for, even if they never relize the gift you are giving them and yourself. My littles are my biggest motovaters too. (Also can be big stress.) Keep your reasons close and your benifits of quiting closer. You may need to depend on them at times. That has what gotten me threw the hard days. Welcome End of Summer Quiter. Hello Icandoit My two cents. A thread I wrote a while ago. Maybe some can help you. Good luck to you. How can a person get there? Do not dwell on the smoking urges that come your way. They will pass in a few seconds or minutes. Think about other things, take a walk, chew on a carrot or celery stick, take 3 or 4 slow deep breaths, drink some water, work out with some weights, do some hiking or uphill walking. I remember I used to love to smoke when driving a car. Replace that urge and grab a bottle of water to take with you. As I remember the first 5 to 7 days are the worst, two weeks gets easier. If you can, stay away from people who smoke for the first month. When you get the urge, tell it to go away, dont bother me. Take it hour by hour, day by day. The days will begin to turn into two days between urges, 3 day.. and so on. It can be done and you can do it. Just look at the list of people on this web page who have done it, all the money they have save, and all the longer they will live a healthier life for it.
