AM: This "notebook" is full of isolated incidents mostly healthcare related. This kind dr. will go out on the limb for me to see that I get what I need as far as treatment, meds, therapies, tests and more. He even gave me lots of good ideas about tracing my birth mother. All this and he treats me too ! There are no major new problems, ao the notebook gets replaced PRN. I do not keep it. Sandi

Well, Red, you are to be commended (applause, applause!) for sticking with your QUIT. Many people relapse without additional factors to help in that regard. I'd love to hear more about this notebook, what goes into it, how it's updated, etc. -- Anne-Marie, Site Administrator

AM, . A tailspin is like all things are spinning and you visually lose it, so, dizzy would be an understatement. Also when equalibrium is lost so go the thoughts. That is my own description of tailspin..its backwards spinning. I usually look at what caused it to happen, then I can asess what my needs are so I can cope. If it is something new, different than I am being treated for than I mark it in my notebook. By the way, I am being treated by a PhD, who is in the office of my spine surgeon. Now you must know who I am. I have the worst spine they have ever sen..and that is not a "massage". The accident caused this spine..I was 3 months post-op rom my 2nd spine surgery when the drunk driver on drugs hit my Mercedes-Benz. So my association with this doctor is primarily pain related, but he is a pro with phobias. He got me to whee I am driving again..when I can, from a pain standpoint. Recently with the QUIT and seeing the car accident thats when the tailspin hit me. I thought I would never come out of it. I got an emergency visit with the PhD, who is now seing me every two weeks, instead of 6 to 8 weeks. I am still wanting somone to pinch me to make sure this QUIT is not a dream, to assure me that it is real. I am so happy, but what to do about the other symptoms? Red

Hi. Sorry to read about your car accident. It sounds like you're dealing with a couple of issues, including quitting smoking. What is this tailspin like? And how do you usually handle a setback? Have you tried the same strategies this time, and what happened? This message was edited by am on 1-24-02 @ 7:40 PM

Hi, Anne-Marie, and congratulations on the launch of your new site. I recently had a setback in my panic disorder. I was driving on I26 and witnessed a horrible accident. IPart of my panic disorder is from a bad car acident in 1994. It has left me disabled in mind, body and spirit. So This recent set back sent me in a tailspin..I also gave up smoking very recently and my nerves are shot. The dr put me on Prozac again, and thid time I'm not going off it 'til it quits working. Do you or anyone have any advice for my tailspin. What can I do to get my composure back long enough to get back into my groove of comfort? Red This message was edited by am on 1-24-02 @ 7:39 PM

It€™s upsetting to have a setback. Many people do however, and this forum is for discussing just that. Obtain encouragement, support and help here. Give support to others too. How to offer support? You can share what worked for you, offer suggestions. Welcome! -- Anne-Marie, Site Administrator
