Day 25 ... Still going ...

18 years ago 0 598 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi, This is my Day 25: still going ok. I don't have a crave for cigarette. But at times, I feel irritated, uncomfortable, helpless, boring, discouraged ... I try many things: deep breath, brisk walking, mints, reading messages in this SSC forum, ... At times, one or two puffs from the NRT inhaler also help to calm me down ... It's not easy to cope with this frustration, but I'm determined to succeed this time! nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 261 Amount Saved: $130 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 24 Seconds: 12

Thanks, Marie! Yeah, one day at a time, and today is Day 28, 4 weeks of no smoking! Not too bad ! :) I have a look at my quit meter ... When it hits $200 mark, I'll buy a new digital camera ! :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 281 Amount Saved: $140 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 5 Mins: 16 Seconds: 18

25 SMOKE FREE DAYS!!! How great is that. I know there are highs and lows in this journey. Celebrate the highs, and ride out the lows with all your coping tecniques. Nice to know these "low points" in the quit are very temporary. That's one thing that keeps me going. So congrats. Be strong and keep posting!!! Well done nmc! I've noticed that this journey is a bit of a rollar coaster ride, too! Some days get to us and then we are feeling ok again. What's really great is that we can all meet up here and see that this is perfectly normal in our situation - we're doing ok!! There are ups, and there are downs....one of my downs was around the 30 day mark. Just ride it out, try not to dwell on it, and it WILL pass soon. Keep on doing what you're doing, mints, breathing, etc. You should both be proud, you're doing amazing. Learn to be optimistic. Thinking in a negative way will cause you to spiral down. Negative thinking can cause you to loose your confidence. Thinking positive can push out feelings of frustration. If you want to change you life, you must change your mind and act on it. Exercise, going to the gym, swim, ride a bike. Physical activity really helps to relieve tension and frustration. It realeases natural chemicals into the body that will help your mind. Talk to friend about your frustration. Stuffing your feelings or thoughts is counterproductive to your well being. If something goes wrong, don't dwell on what went wrong/inaction. Think about how the problem can be fixed. Learn from your mistakes, don't dwell on them. Work on shortcomings. Dwelling on mistakes cause frustration. Taking action for our own personal improvement empowers us. Trust, have faith, be patient and be loving to yourself. Fill your heart with love and gratitude. Believe in yourself. What we tell and how we treat ourselves makes a big difference. Deal with frustration by changing your outlook and thinking positively. Face life bravely. Sometimes it is easier said than done. Sometimes we have to fake it till we make it. But faking it till we make it is always better than the alternative. I hope I've helped no more cig. Keep on keeping the quit. It gets easier everyday. Change takes time. Patience.
