Day 2 and holding on!

17 years ago 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Windy - I am just beginning my journey with trying to quit - gathering information, etc. and reading everything I can get my hands on - SO, I can't offer a lot of advise just yet. What I can offer is some support though, as I intend to begin this journey on Monday (after a doctor's visit on Friday). If you would be interested in trying to team up, etc. I am game as I'm afraid I will need all the support I can get as well.

It is so great to check under my name and see messages...it honestly keeps me going (sometimes minute by minute) I believe you are right, this is a good day to go to bed early. Sometimes I would like to respond to certain people or ask them questions. Is there a way to do this? I can't get instant messaging on my computer so that doesn't seem to be an option. I guess I should change my post to "Day 3 and holding on by my toenails"!! Thanks for all the support and helpful ideas. This is day 3 and I am sitting at my desk well past quitting time. I knew at 2:00 today that this was going to be a tough day. (Don't ask me why - it was no more stressful than any other day) I am dreading going home because that has always been my smoking haven and I can't smoke. (Well - I can but I won't) Dee Dee, I would definately like to partner up. I haven't figured out how to get instant messaging working on my computer but I will see if I can find one of your posts in this room. Thanks all windy My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 54 Amount Saved: $10 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 11 Seconds: 55

Well...this is my second quit in 2 weeks but considering that I haven't tried for 17 years I guess that I am doing okay. I am so sick and tired of planning my life around cigarettes. I want to be able to go out and enjoy myself without worrying about when I am going to get to have my next cigarette. I've gone away for girl's weekends and instead of thinking about all the fun that we are going to have, I am thinking about having to go outside every time I want a cigarette. I have nephews and nieces that I adore but I sometimes make excuses for them not to drive in my car with me because I want a cigarette. I am sooooooooooo tired of this. BUT...it is sooooo hard to quit. I have managed to take cigarettes out of my workday but I always look sooooooo forward to coming home and playing a game of cards on the internet and smoking cigarettes. It is hard to find something to replace this. On the "Up" side, I have never spent so much time at the gym as I have in the last two weeks because it is one place where I don't think about smoking and I don't want to smoke. I find the end of the day REALLY hard. (Green tea and cinnamon sticks just aren't cutting it) However, it's the weekends that worry me the most. Work fills alot of time but the weekends give me way too much time to think about smoking. Any suggestions?? This is probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I need all of the help I can get. Hope one day next year I will be messaging. Windy - quit date Sept 11/2006! 2 days closer!

Windy Take an aspirin if that's ok for you, take a hot shower to relax and turn in early, lights out if you are able to do this.

Hi Windy, Welcome! This site is awesome for support and advise! Come here when you have cravings and post before you decide to light up! On weekends I do all my housework that I haven't done through the week. I know totally boring but it keeps me from smoking. I also took up jigsaw puzzles. Those take up most of my time! Good luck and read and post read and post.
