Had a bad day

Thank goodness Valic! You didn't resort to the cigarette! Imagine how bad you would have been feeling if the post here was of a different nature - that you were telling us how you'd lost your quit. I'm happy for you. Well done for tapping into your inner-strength! Thanks for all the positive support. Now that I don't hide behind a cig like Free said I think I will work on not letting other people's emotions bother me. That way when I get another moody customer (and I will its inevitable) I won't have to go and cry I can just turn a deaf ear to them. But it was better to cry and get support from my co-workers then cry and smoke by myself! As the days of my quit move forward I hope to become stronger in dealing with my emotions. Thanks again for everyone's support!! You guys are the best!!! I had a very bad day yesterday! And if anyone read the post from yesterday I was already cranky! So I go to my second job and its crazy. I am a cashier and this customer gets all up in my face about something saying I can't do my job right and how I am stupid. All because I didn't see one of the ink's that he was buying! My manager comes up and takes care of it but I just went into the restroom and bawled my eyes out. I have never wanted a cig so bad in my quit like last night. I almost went to get some, almost. I feel embarrassed that I cryed at work but it was either that or smoke. I did some deep breathing too and just said This will pass, this will pass. At least I have tonight off and can get that bubble bath that I desperately need! But everyone at work was real nice and by the end of the night we were all laughing at how stupid that customer looked. I was just very glad that I didn't cave and smoke, even if it meant crying! Thanks for listening everyone, couldn't have resisted without the awesome advice of everyone! Thanks everyone! Yes thinking back on the night now I was wondering why I would even consider blowing my quit on that stupid guy! But I didn't! So thank you everyone for teaching me the coping skills that I needed to thwart the nicodemon once again! I am looking forward to cooking my favorite meal tonite (honey glazed ham) and taking a warm bubble bath with a good book. Thats my reward for surviving the customer from he**! Sounds like a hectic night that ended rather nicely! I am glad you kept your quit and were able to work through this. Good job, Valic. Be proud! :)

Wow! I just realized from reading your post that not only did we avoid our own emotions when we smoked (you got embarrassed about crying at work), but we also missed out on positive emotions/interactions with people because we smoked. In the past we would smoke to deal with our embarrassment. Since you were not smoking, you were around to feel the support from your co-workers as they tried to cheer you up by laughing at the situation that had taken place. I wonder how many times I missed out on the support of others because I was off getting false support from a stupid cigarette. I am so glad I don't smoke anymore. Thank you Valic for helping see yet another reason to be happy I don't smoke! Hey Valic, Way to hang tough, there will always be difficult people and horrific situations to deal with, just as there was when we smoked. When people like that act up, just step over the garbage and move forward with your quit. You're doing fantastic! Valic, I cried a river of tears those first few months of my quit and I still have my moments from time to time. Kick, scream, fight, whatever it takes, just don't smoke. One step at a time. You are doing great.
