Congratulations sheller. I still crave them, but I took the decision not to smoke. It's getting easier, I'm doing it one day at a time :) Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 508 Amount Saved: $132 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 11 Mins: 16 Seconds: 21

A very apt analogy, Sheller, and along with just remembering your grade 8 crush, you remember what a mistake he was and how much he nauseates you now.......what a filthy, disgusting habit! Hi all, Just wanted to let you know I am still here and still quit! I go through days when I forget I smoked. I still get cravings.. just had one a couple hours ago... Now before you newbies look at that as a reason to start up again (aww she's gone 6 months and still thinks of them I can't do this). I thought of them. Cigarettes are your grade 8 sweetheart. When you first break up it's all consuming and horrific. You cry and yell and treat the people around you like crap and all you want is him/her back. As time goes by you start to forget about them. Gradually the searing pain turns into an ache, then you remember whistfully occasionally and sometimes even wonder if you still have their number. After a long time ( and help from good friends) you barely remember their names. So even when you quit for a while you will remember the smoke but more as an "oh ya I used to smoke, damn glad I don't do that any more" if I can do it anyone can.
