Stopping Zyban

Can you share your experiences when you stopped taking Zyban? I've been taking only one a day for some time now, and think it's about time to stop completely. I have 1 more month's supply that I can take if I feel that I need it (as per my doctor) - or not. I had quit using the same method a couple of years ago (lasted 2-1/2 years) and don't remember any withdrawls or anxiety when I stopped taking it. But this time I'm feeling a little more nervous and anxious about stopping. I know I shouldn't crave nicotine, since that was out of my system after about 3 days. I really do want to get off the drugs. How did you feel when you stopped? I appreciate your input. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,635 Amount Saved: $585 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 8 Mins: 49 Seconds: 39

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Okay, so I stopped on Sunday. I figured that I had been on it long enough. I was on it for quite a while before I actually quit - my doctor had given me an extra month's prescription if I needed it. I'm feeling pretty good, and quite honestly, the only time I feel any different is when I consciously remember that I'm not taking them anymore. Luckily that's not very often. The mind is a very, very tricky thing. I ran again tonight, and felt great. The funny thing was that my time was only 15 seconds better than the other day - even though it felt considerably easier. Looking forward to the future, sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,748 Amount Saved: $621 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 19 Mins: 17 Seconds: 48

Hi Sushik! I stopped taking the wellbutrin early last week, and was really worried about stopping. I thought I noticed a slight increase in craves, but I think that was just my mind freaking out. I decided to have faith in myself, and really I feel great. My quit is strong. I had a complete breakdown this weekend, the first time since I quit that I just cried for hours (NOT over smoking). Could've been coming off wellbutrin, could've been I was just due for a good cry. Anyway, I think you'll be fine. You've got a great quit going, have faith in yourself! GREAT JOB!!!! I am using wellbutrin, and I do not anticipate a problem discontinuing that. However, I have been using the patch and will be going off of it in a week. I've been thinking of a placebo---perhaps those little round Curad bandaids for awhile?????????????? :confuse:

Sushik, Don't forget to continue your implementation of other coping mechanisms to deal with cravings. Hurstk, Start planning now how to deal with cravings when you come off the patch. Have your new coping mechanisms at the ready! Keep persevering, Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Sushik, The members will be along shortly to share their experiences with you. Take the time to speak with your doctor and/or pharmacist. They have a world of knowledge to give and can help with side effects and dosages. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
