Hi, JamieUS. Congratulations on your 7 days quit and welcome to the SSC. Sometimes smoking masks other problems and when one quits the sypmtoms then become apparent. It sounds like you may be having anxiety attacks. I'm no doctor and have no experience with anxiety problems, but from what I've seen here, that may be what's happening. Sleep disturbances are normal for the first few weeks. Some people can't sleep while some sleep all the time. Don't worry about sleep problems, they'll correct themselves. It's good you're seeing your doctor about the tightness in your chest. Let us know the outcome. We're here for you. I tried the rubber band trick for a bit. All it did for me was make my wrist sore and annoy me. Being annoyed was a trigger so I stopped doing it. I think Groovekitty's idea is better. ;p Whatever works for you, fish. That's what is really important.
