Interesting observation

I don't think I explained myself well... I've known for a long time about the 100-day hurdle, but I didn't think, since I'd only had 7 cigarettes, that I'd experience it, since it's not like I had been actively smoking before that time. I quit June 17, 2005, but have had 3 relatively minor slips in that time and have been smoke free for 228 of the last 231 days. Therefore, I just don't understand why I'm going through this hurdle, since I've basically been smoke-free for over 7 months. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not going to smoke... that's not the problem. Does that make more sense? Crave the Quit! I honestly don't have the foggiest idea on this. But I'll voice some ideas, nonetheless. :confuse: The milestone theory may be valid if most people tend to set 100 days or 3 months as a milestone. There have been a number of people come to this site quitting again after a previous relapse around this timeframe. If people do tend to set this milestone, conciously or unconciously, then at this time there would be a mental focusing on the "never again" aspect of the quit which is never a good way to look at beating an addiction. This would not be affected by how much was smoked for how long in the past because it's forward-looking. I could believe some "pre-programming" or "herd mentality" effect on SSC members, but that doesn't explain this phenomenon happening to people who've never been here before. Mine hit around days 86 - 89 and they were the worst craves of my quit. I think that was what hell week would have been like if I'd gone CT instead of Wellbutrin. The "herd mentality" may have applied to me because I was aware of it and was prepared (I thought) for it. No answers there, but maybe a morsel for thought. Diditagain, I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmother. 99 years is a good life and doing it all at home is even better. God bless her. Hi butterfly, I see what you're saying. Obviously, those 100 days thoughts/cravings (however you want to describe them), have nothing to do with how long you've smoked or how much you smoked. My guess is that we're so conscious of our milestones...and 100 days is the first biggie that those thoughts begin to surface and so do some of the last fits of the addiction...trying your patience and resolve. I can't imagine what else it could be. It'll be interesting to see other theories. One more day till you're on the beach! woohoo! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 367 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,358 Amount Saved: $1310.19 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 22 Mins: 56 Seconds: 0
