Good Morning Breaking Free. Here are some cheers for you. Hip Hip Hooray! Now as to your friends, they are your friends, they are as they were yesterday or a month ago, the mainstay in the equation is you and you are going through a big change! Make sure to reward yourself and be kind to yourself and give yourself the acknowledgement and gratitude that you deserve. You are doing an intense and most challenging task, quitting smoking. Ease up, give yourself a break and you will find it easier to be easier with your friends. Cheers on doing an amazing job at quitting. Look at you at 22 days and 666 cigs not smoked. Big cheers! Peace Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,127 Amount Saved: $795 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 7 Mins: 55 Seconds: 35

Yeaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! 22 days is fantastic, breaking free. and 666 demons not smoked. Your doing great Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... I honestly believe (even thiough I only have 7 days) that no nic replacement is the way to go. I'm using Alan Carr's Easy Way and I'm glad that the nicotine has left my body. Now I can focus on helping my lungs to clear and dealing with the mental issues, although of all the times I have tried, this one is truly the easiest!! Hi guys, i can relate well, grrrrrrr. Friends, co-workers & even Family can really get up your goat. I too found that i was doing all the listening, I always helped others but when it came to me - well that was a different story. You're right tho, we knew this all along but chose to ignore it via a smoke to numb the brain making it more acceptable. I don't socialise with my now ex-friends or current co-workers, they are all self obsessed & boring to me. why put up with it ! I've become selfish cos to me my wife is my best friend & family is most imporant. In this day and age 'family time' is very precious. When we stop smoking we create a new life for ourselves, we need to surround ourselves with people who support & benefit us - distance ourselves from those who don't. I also believe it's better to be honest with people, don't be scared to tell them what you feel, after all you're the most important person in your life so why make things harder for yourself. Stoping smoking does restore an 'inner calm' & you do re-learn your true self but even though smoking is an addiction to nicotine, we wll end up going through the 're-evaluate ourlives' routine to clean out the crap !. Probably the best advice i could ever give to anyone stopping smoking...... Cut down on sugar / coffee so you don't get to hypo, exercise or go for a run gives you 'me time' & helps get rid of lifes frustrations (cos there's a lot of those !), Alan Carr would'nt go a miss either. cheer up. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 519 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,992 Amount Saved: $3373.5 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 11 Mins: 0 Seconds: 37

Breaking Free, if you need to let stuff out but can't say anything, then try punching a pillow. Imagine the pillow is the person you want to yell at and just beat the crap out of it. Make sure it's a cheap one, though. Breaking Free and Brick Wall, It's great to see you two trudging through this together - it definitely is NOT easy. Don't throw anything at me for saying this but it is actually a good thing that all these emotions are welling up. You are moving into a sort of deeper level in your quits. All of the early accomplishments are great - getting back your energy, sense of smell, sense of pride, the empowerment, and the obvious health benefits. Then you move into the gooier emotional stuff and let's face it that is never pretty. But you can't get rid of the darkness without pulling it into the light. This is a very uncomfortable time and I remember it well. This was the hardest part of the quit for me. It was by far the most important and the most rewarding though. I cannot tell you how much I learned about myself and how it gave such clarity to my actions and thoughts. I lived to tell about it and I think you two might also. ;p Here are some pearls of wisdom, Anger and Quitting Smoking that helped me a lot. Hopefully things are better today? Maybe a little? Breaking, Take some you time and really relax yourself. Hot bath, read a book, go hiking or even sleep. Your body is in need of pampering and you deserve it! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
