Breaking free-do wwhat you think is best for you I tried taking my 21mg off at night to help me sleep easier and I got my sleep but also got major big cravings when I woke up. Hi Breaking Free, 2 things. I tried to quit at the end of the year, but failed (think I was badly prepared). I spoke to my doctor who said it is OK for me to start again. At the end of Stage 2, I asked him if it was OK to carry on at this stage for a couple more weeks. He said that it was fine, just do what you feel is right. By all means check with your doctor though. Allen Carr. I'm a big fan (though I disagree with his views on patches). Plesae read this. If you feel like its enough, do it! I used the gum for 11 days and then no more...just went off of it! I did fine, so its all individual! Hi, Breaking Free. I agree with Joanne and Mira. If you do okay on the 14 mg patch, then go for it. If it turns out to be the wrong choice, you can always go bac. Keep a 21 with you for a few days, just in case. You may experience some craving on step-down. If you do just remember that, like all craves, they won't last. Congratulations on 19 wonderful, smoke-free days, Breaking Free and hubby. Love your name, BTW. :) Keep up the good quits. Healthier, When you are thinking of starting the patch, be sure to stop smoking completely before applying. Smoking while on the patch is not recommended. Your body is already receiving nicotine from the patch, and by smoking another cigarette you put more nicotine into your system than your body can handle. The patch is a self-adhesive patch of material that slowly releases nicotine into your bloodstream through your skin. It can be placed anywhere between the waist and neck. Most individuals place the patch on their upper arm. Also, please remember to replace your patch every 24 hours.
