I Need to quit, and apperently can't do it alone.

Hi, John. As to what quit method is best, that's entirely up to you. The best one is the one that works. How do you know? You don't. Pick a method that seems the best to you and try. If it doesn't work, try another approach. Keep trying until you get it right. There are some here who tried a method once, it didn't work, they tried a number of other methods over the years, none worked, and finally successfully quit on the original method. No matter what method a quitter uses, they all require determination, attitude, and committment to the quit. Without these three things, no quit method will succeed. With these three things, any quit method will succeed. The secret is not how you quit, but that you never use tobacco again. It is not unusual for cravings to be delayed until after the initial detox period, 3 - 4 days. Some smokers didn't have craves until the second week of their quit. Don't know why, but it happens. Hang in there, John. It's a rough road, but it is well worth it. Hi, John. Glad to see you're still hanging in there dip-free. Wow! Just three cigs in over two days. That's really good. How are you holding up today? This was my first weekend quit a year ago. Weekends tend to be the hardest. Leave it to me to quit so my first one was three days long, lol. Hang in there, John. You're doing great! you are sooo right! Withdrawal sucks!!! They say this is as bad as stopping heroin. I believe it! I sobbed and slept most of week one, when I wasn't here. I got into horrible fights with my husband. All my sense of sanity and equilibrium left. When i wasn't in bed, I was here at the computer reading and posting, whining and learning. I never thought I could get through it. I sooo wanted to smoke and return to harmony with my husband. I wanted to feel like me again. I wanted to smoke to get through the stress of putting my mother in an Alzheimer's home. But somehow through the help of the people here and my resolve to make this my LAST quit, I managed to ignore the nico demon yelling in my ear that another time would be easier. One year later I am here to tell you that there is life beyond nicotine. This is possible. This is doable. This freedom from the slavery of addiction is wonderful. Have faith in yourself and those who went before you. Rejoice in your freedom rather than mourn your slavery. You will succeed!! John, This will pass and you did the right thing by not venting on the teacher. Other's don't deserve our anger and we need to realize that it is the nicodemon talking. Take the time to distract yourself and avoid situations that will tempt you. Always carry a coping mechanism with you :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
