here's a hug for ya, Jo... We're all pulling for you. You are us. We all see ourselves in you. You are correct, this is your choice. Know the consequences. Choice ONE puts you with a plethora of possibly the most perservering, powerful, patient, pretty, pragmatic, practically perfect people you may ever meet. Forgive the alliteration, please. The point being, those who have walked before you and I, assured us that it is worth the trouble, the pain, the trials, the depression - all of the crap of walking away from addiction/slavery. Choice TWO leads back to entrapment, slavery, bondage, servitude. You know this in your heart. Emancipate yourself - grab the rope, we're all pulling. keep fightin' the good fight - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 146 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,400 Amount Saved: $730 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 23 Mins: 9 Seconds: 36

Hang in there!!!! You know, during one of my quits that is almost exactly what I did. I kept a 1/2 smoked butt in the tray of my car and every once in a while would pull it out and say to my self that I could have it if I really wanted it. Well, I never did smoke that particular butt but several months and pounds later started back up. So I do not advocate this method of quit. That was many, many moons ago and I wish I had stuck with it. The SSC gang is here for you! All said and done, you need to do what you have to to keep your quit! One more thing.... as long as you are not smoking, you ARE doing well. :) Take it one step at a time. It's really some tough stuff to get through but you can do it. If you need to, just quit for five minutes at a time. When that five minutes is up, do another five. Stepping stones to your smoke free life. N.O.P.E. is how we all quit. Not One Puff Ever. joluv... Drown those smokes in water before you trash them. Isn't it just awful? The control this addiction has on you. Wouldn't you love to be in charge of your own destination and decisions instead of letting that cigarette make all the decisions for you? Think about it. That little white thing that you hold in your hand tells you where to go, how long you can go for, what you will do while you are there, and controls you in every way. You are a slave to the cigarettes. We have all been slaves to the cigarette. Fight for your freedom, fight for your life. It is so worth it. Get rid of the smokes once and for all. Hi, Jo. You haven't thrown the pack out yet. Are you planning on smoking? That's the only valid reason you could have for keeping it. Don't say it's for an emergency. There will be no emergency. You will either decide to smoke, or you will get through your "emergency" smoke-free. You say you can't smoke if you're sleeping. Are you planning on sleeping forever? The only real truth is you can't smoke if you don't have cigs. Screw your head back on straight and trash the cigs, Jo. Jo, I think holding that cigarette made you realize that not smoking is a choice that you are making, not a sentence handed down upon you. Don't beat yourself up...you didn't smoke. You only considered it. And then you decided not to. That's YOU exercising your own personal power over your addiction. That's YOU, saying "I'm choosing to not let this drug control me." As you continue to make that choice, you will grow stronger and stronger in your convictions. Now, make sure you are rid of that pack! Jol, If your husband is your support then make sure you tell him no matter what do not give in to your craves and to buy you a pack! He can help and we can too! Take this step by step and know that you can do this! Congratulations for not lighting up! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
