There is no denying that this is one of the hardest things we will ever do. However, you've just got to believe in yourself. If you are finding it hard to believe in yourself right now, then believe in the rest of us. Those of us who are right there with you, maybe a day ahead, maybe a day behind, maybe a year. And if you believe in US, then realize that WE believe in YOU. You can do this. It's going to suck for a little while, but once you cross over that wall it's sooooooo much more fun on the other side. Come play with us over here! Congratulations Holly on making it through day 1, most of day 2! For me, the first few days were absolute hell, but what you need to remember is that these miserable cravings will subside. I dont know what your schedule is like, but for me, I went to bed early and kept myself isolated from people who smoke. Anything that I could do to keep myself from just having that "one." I also am on the gum, which really helps. I am on day 15 and I feel so much better, I never thought I could last until now, but it is so attainable! Keep strong, you cann do it! Right now you need only take baby steps... breath. Find something to occupy yourself. This place is great. Read through as many posts as you can. Make it through the next moment, then the next, then the next. Keep that up and before you know it, it'll be next week, then next month, etc. You can do this. God knows, if I can, anyone can. Above all, know that this is the BEST thing you could do for yourself. Life or death, live or die. There is only do, there is no try. Choice puts the free in freedom. No hurries, no worries. It's OK Holly, I know that it is hard, but if these days were not hard, what would there be to stop us from starting up again. If the quit was easy, and nothing to it, every one would be quit. It takes a person who is determined and really wants it to go through all that you are. You just keep breathing, one step at a time. With one step the journey started, and you just keep taking one more to continue on. Your gonna be fine....... Hi, Holly. Congratulations on Day 1! Awesome!! :) It doesn't matter what method(s) you use, there will be some craving. Just keep in mind that it is temporary, it does no harm, and it is a sign of healing. Breathe deep, chew straws or gum, or furniture, run around screaming like a banshee, or come here and post like mad. Whatever it takes, Holly, just don't smoke. Smoking will just drag it out longer. Hang in there. You're doing great! Holly, You have received some great advice from the members. Take it step by step and know that this can be done. Preparation is the key to an successful quit. One day at a time, keep occupied and distracted. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
