Hi Kendall, I'm cheering you on too! You sound like you are very determined to do this. That commitment will get you a long way in this journey. And welcome to our quit family, we love new quitters!! Bluepanda, I see you've hit the 30 day mark. Awesome!! Now just do that 11 more times and you'll have a year under your belt! :p Hope you give yourself a nice treat, you deserve it. Hi, Kendall. The only person you've let down is yourself. You've done a pretty good job of beating yourself up so now stop it and focus on the future. This has been a learning experience. Learn and go forward. The really big question I have is where did the cig come from? If you have any lying around, then get rid of them!! Shred them, soak them, flush them down the toilet. Whatever it takes. If you bummed one, then tell all the smokers around you that you are quitting and that they are to not give you one, ever! That might not work, but at least it's a try. The flavored tea is a good idea. The coffee you drink is caffeinated I'm guessing? If so, you're probably a bit hooked on caffeine, too. It sounds like around 10 you really needed a caffeine fix. You may want to use a caffeinated tea at first, then slowly decaf yourself. That is a good idea, anyway. Caffeine has it's own set of problems. Keep trying, Kendall, keep trying. This is a wicked addiction. Few make it on the first attempt. Believe it or not, you are doing great! :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 345 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,911 Amount Saved: $1311 Life Gained: Days: 64 Hrs: 10 Mins: 8 Seconds: 1

Sorry to hear about your pup's problems, Kendall. I'm a major dog lover myself. One of the big motivators behind my quit was so I could run in (and survive) dog agility competitions. I've told a few people I quit smoking for a dog. That got some odd looks. ;) Know that she will be better off from now on because she's no longer exposed to second hand smoke. Perhaps, once your office is aired out, she'll be willing to spend time in there with you. I'll bet that will make you both happy. :) Hold onto that anger, Kendall. It's a great energy source. Let it fuel your quit. And please give Lilly a hug for me. Kendall, I've gotta tell you, I'm already impressed by your determination. I've read a few of your posts and I have a feeling you're going to do this and drag a few others along with you! ;) It is scary as that quit date looms over our heads. But I think you'll find that once you're actually doing it, it's not so scary. I'm not saying it won't be hard, just not so scary! Reward after running? Maybe a tall glass of lemonade or ice tea? A peice of freash fruit? or indulge in a piece of dark chocolate? We have a member that found cheese to be a good closure for a meal...but that just doesn't sound great for after exercise. :confuse: Same thing for in the home office. Set up a pencil holder with straws cut to length. A bowl with hard candies to suck on. If the cravings get bad...get up and go job around the house! Keep up that determination! We CAN do this! :) I like your son! Tell him thank you! If you have a emergency supply, it implies you plan on using it. There is no need of that...because you do not smoke anymore! Of course you feel lousy Kendall! You're healing! When we have a fever, it hurts. The fever makes us feel bad. But the fever is not the sickness....the fever is the healing! The fever is busy killing off all the bacteria that is making us sick. Sometimes things really do have to get worse before they get better. Stay strong and stay close. Post FIRST if you're in danger of losing it, okay? *smiles* i bet your mom will forgive. how are you doing tonight? stay strong! Being in a daze is perfectly normal at this stage in the quit. Expect it to last for a while. Try to keep your workload light. The highly emotional thing is normal too. Anywhere from anger to depression. But it all really does pass! Really. Keep us posted! *laffin* Ladies and gentlemen, In the blue corner, we have Kendall! He's a new fighter, still feeling his way aound the ring. In the red corner we have Nic O. Demon. He's been around the ring a few times. Really knows how to exploit his opponents weaknesses. *ding, ding* Round one, folks. They're squaring off. Kendall's doing pretty good. Got Demon rockin' back a little. Uhoh... looks like Demon got in a few jabs there. *ding, ding* Well folks, it was close, but round one is a decision to Demon. But I'll tell ya what I think...Kendall's got what it takes. I think all old Nico did in that round is piss him off. Look at the fire in those eyes. If Kendall can harness that anger and make it work for him, I bet he's gonna come out a champion! sorry...cold meds do wierd things to my thinking.. :p ~lbugg~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 413 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,891 Amount Saved: $2725.8 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 5 Mins: 37 Seconds: 24
