Poor stupid me

Zyban, You said exactly what I'm feeling. I would love to say "don't worry about the past... it's the present that matters" but the truth is that in less than 2 weeks, I would have been a year quit and I'm terrified to death of how I'm going to react on that day, knowing that I threw that quit away. I've already cried about it and have started my pity party a little early, so I can only imagine how upset I will be when that day arrives shortly. I know that I have a great quit going now as do you and we should both be proud of our successes instead of mourning our lost quits, but at the same time, I know where you're coming from. It's not easy to see others celebrating milestones that you should be celebrating. So, as I say this to you, keep in mind that I'm really talking to myself as well. We both have a lot to be proud of! We're making this our final quit!!!!! I know that I have learned from my mistakes of my past quits, as I'm sure you have too. We wouldn't be where we are now if we hadn't made those mistakes and learned from them. So rejoice in your 79 days (and I'll try to rejoice in my 2?? days too). We're doing it NOW... and that's all that matters. Crave the Quit! I just have to say that I am wallowing in self pity at the moment. I would have been quit 16 months on 7th June if I hadn't fallen by the wayside in April last year (my original quit date was 7th Feb 05). Anyone want to join me in kicking me while I am down? I can't believe how dumb I was for letting the mind games win. Please, please, please listen - when the craves come a-calling ignore them, it IS purely mind games, craving can't hurt you and craving can't kill you, no matter how bad you might think you feel. Mr Ed, could be sunstroke (you have to be english to appreciate that joke) + Luton + the need for a good ole kick in the b***. It has been praying on my mind for a few days now, since the call for Smobers to re-unite the other day and I should have been there. Thanks everyone, pity party over and back to the real business in hand, keeping the quit! (BFS - I'll give myself a good kick in the ankle in 2 weeks when it is your 'would have been' year quit.) We're doing it this time, that is what counts! :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,604 Amount Saved: 200 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 9 Mins: 41 Seconds: 24

STOP!!! Stop the kicking. Stop the regretting. Stop the looking back. Zyban, the past is past. There is nothing you can do about it. It is gone. Bid it goodbye and let it go. All of us have a past that we sometimes regret. I smoked for 40 years. I only DIDN'T smoke for 16 years. We all have "What If's" in our lives. You made that choice. Now you're making a new one. March forward!
