AlleyAnn, you have received lots of good suggestions here and I know what you mean being inside with a sleeping baby. I baby-sit for my grandchildren and I have a treadmill and I love it. So while the baby is sleeping that is when I do my walking and watch TV. Congratulations on your quit, I know how tuff it must be to go cold turkey, I knew that I could not do it that way so I used the patch. Did really well until I finished the program and then I had a few rough days but I'm sure my cravings were nothing like yours. I really admire you for being able to go cold turkey it will probably make you stronger in the long haul. Hope you can find something to occupy your hands during these few tough weeks. Just keep saying I CAN AND BELIEVE IT WHEN YOU SAY IT. I KNOW THAT YOU WILL..... :) Blessings sent your way!!!!! AlleyAnn, you're right you are on an emotional roller coaster. And oh yes, anger and crying are high on the list. But let it take it's course don't fight it cry all you want to, but don't be angry at yourself. Be gentle and loving to yourself and know that you are doing the right thing and that it is for you. Alleyann....Here is a ((((HUG)))) The emotional part of this quit is definately the hardest. I truly thought I was going to lose my mind in the early part of my quit. Lean on those here and post whenever you need to. That is how I got through it all. No matter what time of day or what I posted, there was always someone there to encourage me to keep going. Breathe, breathe, and breathe. It sucks so bad... my heart goes out to you because you sound just like I did when I began. You are doing great! Keep your chin up. Cry away. It helps too. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 281 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,620 Amount Saved: $983.5 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 18 Mins: 24 Seconds: 9

Alleyann... I saw on another thread you said it had been a tough day. Let me first congratulate you on making it through another day smoke free. No it isn't easy and some days are better than others but know that you can make it through each day if you take it one step at a time. A couple of things that really helped me was taking a lot of deep breathes and drinking ice water. Keep yourself occupied as much as possible and replace any negative thinking with possitive thoughts. You have made a choice to quit smoking and it is a great choice. Keep telling yourself that you can do it because you really can. You have taken your life back and are now in control. Do not give that control back to the cigarette. You are fighting for your life and it is worth it. I hope this helps. Hang in there. It really does get better. Hi AlleyAnn, Nice to make your aqaintance :) Congrats on your choice to quit! WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!! Deep breathing like Casey suggests will work everytime but u just gotta remember to do it when the goin gets tough :) Lady & Rusty gave u some good advice too. I remember my 1st 3 months I pretty much lived on this site, reading, posting & reading. Remember insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So you're not going insane after-all b/c you're doing something different,,,quitting :) It's all about growing up emotionally which it sounds like you're doing really good at cuz you're allowing yourself to cry and you're giving your feelings the respect they deserve. A good thing to remember is you are not defined by your feelings cuz they will come and go through you. They're temporary and will come and goooooooo. The important thing is to not let your feelings control your actions :) A good promise to make to yourself is that you'll be honest with yourself & if you ever feel like giving up you'll come in here and post for help 1st. ***See the thread "Group Promise" in the discussion forum :) Also make sure u take time for yourself,,,maybe a nice hot bath with some candles the next time your baby is napping? Stuff like that :) Keep close cuz together we can do this! No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... How about getting out of the house with that sweet 18-month-old? Go to a park or a museum. Take a nice long walk. Maybe get some exercise dvds?
