Not A Good Day =(

Aw Duckie... You will be fine. This quit thing teaches us a lot about ourselves. One of which is that we are not the super people we thought we were. I use to think I was supermom but now I know better. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Do whatever comes next and just forget the rest. Be good to yourself. You are in the process of overcoming the worse addiction that exists. There is light and freedom at the end of the tunnel and when you get there you will say that the journey was worth every bit of agony you are going through right now. I promise! Take some deep breathes and keep going. Hey Dukie... I so remember feeling the way you are describing right now. Hang in there and know that it does pass. Try not to dwell on it and focus on the possitive aspects of quitting. 15 Days is an awesome accomplishment. You will not feel like this forever. Every day is one day closer to never feeling this way again. Right now your body is going through a lot. Take a lot of deep breaths and remember to take it one step at a time. You are doing great! Duckie it took me a while to get the reward thing down too. There was another member here name Ros (search for some of her posts because she was awesome) she held my hand through the reward thing. Once I took the kids to the mall and bought each of them something. Everyone here promptly told me that didn't count as a reward. A reward has to be for you and it is very important. I never use to buy stuff for myself either but I have to admit, I've gotten pretty good at it. Practice :p Start out small. A bubble bath, skip doing the dishes for an evening, read a book instead of cleaning up, go to a movie (alone), Starbucks was huge for me! New throw rugs for the dinning room didn't count either they told me. It has to be something personal and it really will help with the funk that you find yourself in. You tell yourself you are doing it because you quit smoking and you deserve it. Practice this. It will help you a lot. When I start to get down now, I know it's time to do something for Me. My favorite reward is taking time off from work when no one else is around. That's the best! Do a search for some of Ros posts. She can explain it a lot better than I can. You are doing great. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 293 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,868 Amount Saved: $1025.5 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 20 Mins: 36 Seconds: 29

Duckie I tried to get you but I couldn't. During the day I'm at work and do not have the SSC messenger there. There are a lot of quitters around here that have my email address. Ask around when you are on the messenger... I'm sure they will give it to you. Tell them I said it's ok. We are not allowed to post our addresses on these boards. Sorry. I will watch for you over the weekend and tomorrow night. Maybe we can hook up then. I am more than willing to help in any way I can. Hope you are feeling better. I'll catch up with you sooner or later. Have a good night. OMG, Lady! Thanks for the memory - your second paragraph. I did that! There was a "coordinator" (misnomer, they coordinate nothing), customer service rep, that had a habit of dropping her rush orders into my schedule without asking, then getting upset when they were late because I was swamped already. One day in the first month of my quit she came back with another and that was that. She always asks now :eg:. And I'm not a bad guy - it was the withdrawal; she quit years ago and understands, lol. Lady's right, Duckie. You're not screwed forever. Believe it or not, you aren't screwed right now. It just feels like it. Listen, you smoked for years. Your brain and body chemistries got used to functioning in the presence of nicotine. Now, suddenly, it's gone and they are just totally whacked out. It will take time for them to adjust. Your Granddad may not have had the brain fog. Everyone is different and we react to nicotine withdrawal differently. I wish I could say "The fog will lift at 2:37 PM on the third Friday.", but I can't, I don't know. Are you rewarding yourself, Duckie? At this point rewards are very important. They help the brain repair itself. Do nice things for yourself often, even if they don't seem to matter. A reward doesn't have to involve money necessarily, just has to make you feel good. You got a good night's sleep. That's progress! :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 332 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,647 Amount Saved: $1261.6 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 23 Mins: 1 Seconds: 5

I remember sometime around my second or third week I went through exactly what you're going through now. Plus I had a real serious brain-mouth disconnect; the mouth pretty much did what it wanted regardless what the brain said to do. It would usually comply for the first few words, just to fool the brain, then go off on it's own causing total embaressment for the brain and me. I still remember the looks on some peoples faces as my talking rapidly degraded to pure babble. Luckily, I didn't have to talk to any customers. :) Stay calm, Duckie, stay calm. Deep breaths, go slowly. Hi, Duckie. It's a real bummer when you feel like you should have had tons of fun the night before, but you know you didn't. At least if you had, feeling like crap may be worth it. You're through hell and heck weeks and now you're going into blah week. Patience, Duckie, patience. You're doing great, you're right where you should be, just hang on and stick it out. In the meantime, think of how you're feeling as a healing process because that's exactly what it is. Reward yourself in some way. Rewards are very important right now at your stage. Even if you don't feel like it, go do something that you like to do. It will help. And you've certainly earned it. Congratulations on 15 smoke-free days, Duckie. Be proud of that great accomplishment. 81! That's super, Duckie. How long has he been quit? Don't apologize for feeling horrid right now. You're doing exactly what you should be doing - you're coming here, letting it out, getting support. That's what it's all about. You're the one that needs a hug. ((((((((Duckie)))))))) I still say you need to get out and do something nice for you. I know you don't feel like it, but if nothing else it will give you a distraction. :) Pass my congratulations on to your Grandpa.
