Preparing for My Quit & Nervous...

18 years ago 0 81 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hi Vick n sheba55 i am in the same shoe as you... preparing for my quit. so you are not alone and i am not alone too.. i do feel anxious and afraid watching my quit date approach, at the same time, i cant wait to begin the journey which will bring me back to be the energetic n positive self 18 years ago. And i cant wait to see the joy n surprise on my family's faces. i am also in the process of cutting down too, be more aware of my smoking pattern (i use to smoke without even realising that i have already one burning in the ashtray.) So i wish you all the best and success. And yes, by coming here often, it has helped me to be more affirmed of my decision to quit. Let's do it together. na My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: -22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hi everyone! I only posted once before announcing my quit and received a warm welcome. I've been popping in and out of here but feel awkward right now because I am still puffing away...although I have cut down quite a bit...kind of weird how after cutting down and smoking how more awful it tastes even without drugs and/or patches. I saw my Dr. yesterday where he prescribed Zyban and the 14 mg patches. I previously quit on Zyban just by itself. I've never used the patches and kind of wondering if someone has quit on Zyban/Wellbutrin and the patch...if I should expect anything different and/or any side effects I should be aware of. Dr. said don't put on the patch till the day of my quit or the night before my quit if I'm the first thing in the morning smoker (which I am). Any thoughts? Btw, I started my Zyban yesterday (one pill a day) till Sunday and then two pills a day. I'm depriving myself of less and less smokes a day...was a pack to pack and half a day habit and down to about 8-10 now. Typing here keeps my fingers busy and my mind off of the craving. Gosh...I have forgotten how strong the cravings can get! Stay strong everyone...I'm so envious of everyone that has already quit but happy for you too! Vick

I quit after my morning smoke and cough. I still remember that horrible taste. Congradulations on cutting down!! That's AWSOME!! I chew a lot of gum, and use a lot of suckers (gives me something to do with my fingers). REMEMBER, tobacco is just a weed we used to set on fire and inhale the smoke!!!YUK My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 778 Amount Saved: $114 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 20 Mins: 43 Seconds: 41

Hi Vic and Sheba55, Becoming a non-smoker is one the best decisions you can make. I feel like I am no longer attached to a smelly, deadly ball & chain. I love to take deep breaths, bringing fresh air into my lungs-no more coughing and wheezing. Remember N.O.P.E.(Not One Puff Ever) I don't know who coined that term but it is a motto for alot of us non-smokers because for us we are always one puff away from becoming addicted again. :eg:Welcome aboard,btw-today is my first month anniversay-Yeah!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 725 Amount Saved: $92.69 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 10 Mins: 32 Seconds: 37

Hi Vick! Welcome. It can be exciting and nerve-racking waiting for your quit day to arrive!! You are doing great by cutting down!! ;) Some people found that very helpful. I cut out the morning smoke. It wasn't planned, but it sure did make it that much easier when I did quit. I would recommend this to everyone!! :) You are at a great place here. Keep reading and getting excited about your quit. The day will come soon. Also, keep preparing yourself with all the knowledge you can on the effects of smoking. Make sure your plan is ready! :) Take care, and make sure you post on your first day! Good Morning Vick! Congrats on cutting down and preparing for your quit! I have been a non smoker for 52 days and I have to tell you, it is a WONDERFUL feeling to get up in the morning and take a breathe of clean air! No more hack, take a puff, and hack some more. :) I tried to quit using the patch alone before but was unsuccessful. I had terrible night terrors and instead of just not wearing the patch at night, it was just easier to go back to my smokes. (just one of my many excuses) Did your doctor explain to you that the patch can mess with your sleep? Mine said if it does, take if off before bed and slap one back on when you get up. But for me, that was too easy  I smoked 5 more years before I finally gave it up. (36 all total)I am so thankful I did! I came to this site and read the posts all the time and that helped so much! I also used a whole lot of prayer! Your preparing and that is a big part!! You are giving your mind a chance to accept it. Please keep in touch and keep us posted on your progress! You can do this!! It is a choice you will never regret!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/28/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 682 Amount Saved: $156 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 17 Mins: 24 Seconds: 55

Hi Vick and Sheba55. Welcome. Good for the 2 of you on deciding to quit. Vick, have you picked a quit date yet? I used the patch for a total of 8 weeks with great success, but it is very important to follow your Doctors recommendations. Use this pre-time to get your snacks and coping mechanisms in place. As you quit date nears, you may feel anxious and worried, but it really is an amazing thing you are doing for yourselves. You and your loved ones will be so proud! Keep close to this site if you can. There are lots of great people, with great words here for you. Hi, Vick. I don't have any patch experience, having quit using Wellbutrin alone. But there are plenty of people here who have and you've already gotten a lot of good advice. Are you still on for your May 1 quit date?
