Hanging on by a Fingernail here!!

18 years ago 0 133 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Im hanging on by a fingernail here in Idaho. I dont know what is going on? The last 10 days of my quit, (excluding the last 2 days) have been great. The withdrawals have been few and far between. Im happier now then I have been in a very long time. My self-esteem is up. Family life is great. Nothing bad is going on. So why now? In the last 2 days all I can think about is having a CIG Im tiring to stay focused, busy, going through my coping skills and it is getting very hard. I have been reading thought the old Post (in the past that is all I would have to do keep it together) but not this time. Nothing Im reading is clicking. I dont want to lose my QUIT. I think that is what is scaring me. The last 2 days have been worse then H*ll Week. I Quit Cold Turkey so the NIC is long gone. I'm coming up on my 30 day maybe that is what it is. I look at my 4 year old and I CANT LOSE IT, I have to hold it together. Maybe posting will help.. Please send me your wisdom, I need it right now.. ~Shelly~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 492 Amount Saved: $78 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 33 Seconds: 25

Good Morning Everyone! Still N.O.P.E in Idaho Sorry I didnt write yesterday but they are working on our road and they must of dug threw the cable wire because my Internet was down until this morning. YUK! But Im back. I just looked over the SSC site and there is a lot of new posting, it is amazing how much I missed in just 1 day. Yesterday was much better. My Hubby was home and it helped not being alone. Thank you for the reward ideas there were some good ones I never thought about and will start using them. I know now I need to reward myself more often. My Hubby also quit (he is 1 week ahead of me) and he has not been rewarding himself either. So for our reward this week, we just bought a small fishing boat a couple months ago with some of our tax refund and we went down and licensed it yesterday and this weekend we are going to spend the day at the lake. We just now started our money jar. I think that is something we should have started from the beginning. Between the 2 of us I had to put in almost 225.00 WOW how it adds up. What a waste of MONEY smoking was!!! There is a lot of fun stuff we can do with an extra 250.00 month. Does anyone know of any good Books on positive self talk? Reading seems to help, any good self help book ideas you all might have would be great. Hi Shelly - It doesn't sound like you have rewarded yourself enough. It's wonderful that you are going to see your son on a later day but how about now? Honey, you need to do something for yourself and do it NOW! Go to the movies, get outside and go for a long walk - but the most fun thing to do is grab your camera, take your 4 year old outside and take some fun, silly pictures with your adorable child! Your hands will be too, too busy and your mind will be free of smokey fog. Laugh loud, run around and let your inner child come out and play! Day 24 was harder for me than hell week, day 50 was the day that I really would have killed for a cig - but I drank lots of seltzer water, went for a walk on the beach with my dogs and basically just stayed away from anywhere I smoked. I still haven't gone out on my screened porch yet! There are many days that you will have to remind yourself over and over again that you want to quit much more than you want to smoke. Own your quit! This too shall pass, as Lady always advises....breathe in, breathe out, breathe in and breathe out and know that you will be adding many days to your life! Take care and N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever!) Hey Shelly, I just found your post, hang in there honey, I know that you said that you had done all the things you knew too do. As Lady says so much it's all in the breathing.... take deep breaths and slowely let it out, I know that sound so simple but it really works..... I didn't see anything in your post about Rewards....have you rewarded yourself for these wonderful 24 days.......???? I know that you are looking at your little girl and thinking I want to be here when she grown up, I want to see her in kindergarden, I want to see her graduate from High School, I want to see her graduate for college, I want to see her get married, I want to see my first grandchild, and I don't want to be a burden on anyone when I am older. Have you had any of these thoghts???? But the most important thought is YOU and you are the only one that can assure all of the above..... Shelly, YOU CAN DO THIS, AND TOMORROW WILL BE A DIFFERENT DAY....HANG THERE AND STAY STRONG..... Hi dswill, I missed your original post, but wanted to see how you're doing now. A lot of us went through what you're feeling now at the 30 day mark. (day 45 for me, but I can be slow sometimes :p). If you can just hang on and get through this, you will find things will get better again. I hope they have and you made it through the weekend o.k.
