Too weak to quit

18 years ago 0 148 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Ally. You can do this. You have the desire, all you need are the tools and lots of support from everyone here. Quitting is tough, but living life as a smoker who wants to quit but can't or won't is tougher. The physical addiction ends after 3 days off Nicotine. After that, it is all mental. Take one day at a time. Post little notes to yourself all over your house and car. My favorites were N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever) and "Today, I choose life over addiction". Do this for yourself, because you love yourself. Stay true to yourself. After the first 3 weeks have passed, you will start to feel as though you are having more good days than bad days. Before you know it, you will be celebrating some very big milestones, with the best ones being improved health and a longer life. The money saved is just icing on the cake really. Good luck to you. Stay close and post whenever you need help or a hug! Hi Ally. You sound like me. I never thought I could quit either, tried several times before and never made it more than a few hours at a time. I didn't think I could do it but I was willing to try. I counted every single hour in the beginning. I kept telling myself, I've made it xx hours, I'm not stopping now. I kept doing that. The hours turned into days, the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months. Take a lot of deep breaths and just make it through the next hour. One hour at a time one step at a time. That is how we get through it. Remember that as long as you don't light that next cigarette, you've got it made. Yes, there are times you will fill like you are going insane but know that these times will pass. Keep a possitive attitude and know that you can do this. You are fighting for your life and it is worth the battle. With each hour your confidence will grow. Hi and welcome to the SSC. Do the program to the left here, it has some great ideas for quitting. Read and post here all you can, it really helps. This can be done you need to get your mind set on it and you will do it. Be kind to yourself while you are working at it and give yourself lots of TLC, it not easy but its worth it!!! Hello I am Tojo and on day 55. It is very hard but you can do it. I smoked 35 years almost 2 packs a day. I take one day at a time, come to the site everyday. It helps me get through the tough times. Sometimes I feel like crying, screaming and after getting on line feel tons better. Don't ever give up. Educate yourself on the nicotine addiction because knowledge replaces fear and helps you to beat it. We are here for you and know exactly what you are going through.

?I am full of excuses all the time The excuses are the junky in you....funny how he can turn mere "excuses" into what seems like sound 'reasoning' isn't it? make not smoking a "choice" instead of a 'sentence'. It isn't that you "can't" smoke??....it's that you "choose" not to at the present. Don't look down the road and try to project 'never' smoking. Just take care of where you are now. See not smoking as YOU being in control. Get determined that you are no longer going to let a bunch of rolled up, burning weeds dictate your life.
