Welcome Princess, I understand what you are going through! You have to be strong and fight. Fight one craving at a time. Of course they will come, and mine too did last longer than 5 minutes. They were one continual craving that lasted almost all day. But this was only for the first day. On the second day, they lasted about 1 hour at a time. Then on the 3rd day, it was about 10 minutes, etc, etc, etc..... They are now a distant thought. I still get them, but it is thought now, not a craving. Just the junkie talking. Take one step at a time. Have your plan ready. Come here and read and post. Make sure you have water at all times. Take a walk. Take a nap. Read a book. Take a bath. Scream. Punch. Cry. Just do not allow yourself to smoke. It shouldn't be an option. N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever That is how we quit. :) We are here for you. Please take our hand and we will walk through this journey together! Hi Princess It's great that you've decided to quit. Now, you really must make a plan and stick with it. The first three days are definatly the roughest so make sure you are prepared. Drink lots and lots of water and do the deep breathing exercises. Some people cut straws to the length of a cigarette and breath through those during a crave. Others use healthy snacks like carrotts and celery sticks and some use lolli-pops and/or small candies (not so healthy) to pacify a crave. Pick something that you think will help get you through and stock up. It can be a bit rough these first few days, so come here to talk, scream, yell, or cry, whatever it is you need, just come here and post before you decide to give in. Stay strong...you can beat this Sheila ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 59 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,793 Amount Saved: $295 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 19 Mins: 25 Seconds: 6

good morning everyone. im not new to this addiction. ive now smoked for 24 years. i tried again 2 weeks ago to quit this maddness and only got in 14 hours cold turkey and blew it. i was feeling really edgy and decided to try some chamomile decaf tea. big mistake for me. in about an hour i got deathly sick from it and decided this wasnt the time to do this. im not giving up but im not trying cold turkey again or the tea. i also had a lot of trouble with wanting one. it seemed to stay with me longer then 5 minutes. i certainally have found out how addicted i am. i dont smoke in my house, car, or around other non smokers but it sure has its hold on me. any suggestions?
