Adam, Ditto what everyone else said. You have to fight for this. It is not going to be easy. I never thought I would be able to do this. I can't believe I am doing this. I am so happy I am doing this. It will not seem like this for a while, but I can tell you that not smoking is so much easier then smoking. Stick with it and you will see that I am right. The time goes by faster then you think. Just do not smoke. Don't throw away those 7 days. It is true that you have to not want to smoke more then you want to smoke. When you really feel that way you will be able to do this. Well said Rusty. Adam.. When your desire to quit exceeds your desire to smoke, you will succeed. Quitting isn't easy. It is breaking an addiction but is worth it. Wow - Rusty said it all! Quitting is not for sissies. There is no way to freedom without getting wet. Whine all you want (we all did), but don't kid yourself. The only way to stop smoking is to STOP!!! Stop slowly and comfortably??? That is total BS. Like deciding you want a short tailed dog and cutting off the dog's tail a bit at a time. Good way to get a dead dog. Adam I will start by telling you that I jumped off the wagon last weekend after being on it for 107 days. I am glad that I jumped right back on. Yes, it's been rough this week. I have had almost constant smoking thoughts and lot's of craves. But after smoking last weekend, I realized that I have indeed made the right decision to quit...and quit I will remain. It was a terrible weekend where I had almost a constant headache. I tried to smoke so much that I because nauseated to the point where I almost vomited. It stank. I stank...and I was stupid to have given up my meter. That is my punishment and I have started again at zero. So you've got 2 days on me. The fact that you put your stats up says to me that you are pretty proud of those 7 days...as well you should be. Hell week is no easy feat and you made it. Just don't smoke, just for today, and you've got 8 days. This is how we all quit. One step at a time. One day at a time. We quit only for us, for no one else. We quit to have control, not anyone else...especially not nicotine. Right now, you need to get out your reasons and make a commitment to be true to yourself, and make a choice...to live. To be free. We are here for you. If you haven't already done so, download the messenger. There are quite a few of us using it these days, and you can talk to one of us directly. Give it a try. Just know that there are a lot of people here that want to see you succeed if you do. You have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. You can do this. I know you can. It's a choice! Good 4u Parola! Keep up the good work, it's so worth it :) Did ya'll see the saying for today, it's a good one! Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together. - Vincent Van Gogh Anytime I had quit and relalpsed/started smoking again it was by impulse, not a good thing! Good things DON'T come easy, period. We have to work for them. And with quitting smoking, it's been worth all the hard work :) So what's new with you Adam? Are u smoking or not? What have been your experiences, either way? We can learn so much from hearing why people start smoking again. Although the reason seems obvious it can help us to stay smoke-free. No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... Adam it's gr8 that u came in here to post about giving up however you didn't ask for help :( U just came in and told us all that you're giving up and have the permission of your wife. Being a drug addict can suck if you let it or you can take control of your life and live it to the fullest. I just got a yr smoke-free this past Feb. and it was hard! I'll have 10 yrs sober, GOD willing the 25th of this month and it's still hard at times. If you keep smoking, odds are that you'll die sooner than you would have if u quit. It's your choice,,,that's a good thing that u have a choice. Smoke and in time you won't have to worry about work or your wife being upset that your unhappy. Or quit now, get through hard times that really suck (we all know exactly what you're going through) and be happier in the long run. Instant gratification...junkie way Yes it's hard and it sucks but I promise you, it will get better and you will be happy u quit :) No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... Wow Adam! I go away for a week and this is what I come back to? I really hate to bust your bubble so I won't. You have received some great advise from some truly great people it is up to you to take it or leave it. I quit cold turkey after 58-60 years of non stop smoking a pack and a half a day. I went through hell, heck and blah weeks just like all those before me. By smoking you have damaged your mind, body and soul. Repair takes time and determination again your choice. Life is all about choice and there is no escaping that. Quit or don't, again it is your choice. I am going to leave you with a quote and I hope you pay attention to it.
If you really wan't to do something you will find a way. If you don't want to do something you will find an excuse!
Duffis duffis's Quit Stats Since Sunday, February 13, 2005, I've been smoke-free for: 1 Year(s), 49 Days, 7 Hours, 11 Minutes, 50 Seconds. I have saved $1,738.80 by not smoking 12429 cigarettes. By not smoking I have added 89 Days, 18 Hours, 3 Minutes, 18 seconds. to my life expectancy.

Adam, I hope you don't get too pissed off at me for what I am about to say. But here goes. What makes you think that your first week was worse than mine or anybody else's on this thread? What makes you think that you are so bloody weak that you can't get through it? What makes you think that your wife knows so much about quitting smoking? We are all struggling to stay quit. Every single minute, hour and day of our lives. Now that struggle does get easier, but no one -- AND I MEAN NO ONE -- had it any harder than me or Cuddles or Sheila or Duffis or 3galeh or Lady or Penguin or Sunshine or Melofga or anybody else here. So as hard as you think your week has been, I cordially invite you to go back through this forum and read a hell of a lot more posts. Because you will learn that if you want to quit, you will do whatever it takes to quit. If that means going to your doctor or going to a therapist or going to a mountain top in Tibet, that's what you do if you really want to quit. It's your choice. Nobody is making you quit. But your addiction is keeping you hostage.
