I am still quit, thanks to a very good friend of mine who really helped me today. I am going through my quit for my daughter as well as myself, and am in the middle of a seperation and today I found out that my ex doesn't only want to limit/stop my seeing my daughter she wants to make sure it supervised when/if I do ... now I am the one that has been taking care of our daughter her entire life (even though I am male)... after this information today, besides wanting to cry I wanted a cig and reached for my friend's roll tobacco to make a cig and he pulled the tobacco away, looked at me like I had gone mad and simply said "you'll hate yourself if you do that". It was the nicest thing he could have ever said or done. Thanks to all of our friends that help us and thanks to each and everyone here in this support group... it does matter and it does make a difference. phoenix My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 743 Amount Saved: 180 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 17 Mins: 11 Seconds: 49

that is great chicken ... glad to hear another story of friends helping. This smoking thing is the worst habit in the world.. my ex and I quit back in 2001 and about six months later my ex started again secretly and after I found out 3 months later I started again out of anger being lied to.... quitting again now, right after separation, with and for my daughter, even though my ex is being an absolute b**** is wonderful for me and my self esteem, esp with what she is doing... and my friend's help was really priceless. thanks to all the friends out there that help. phoenix p.s the person that got my ex started again was her father... he doesn' like smoking alone, and although my daughter is only 6 1/2, he is already talking about, when "she" smokes!!! selfish ''''''####'**+++

Wow!! Friends do make a difference especially when they believe in you. I have smoked many many years and not one person said I wouldn't be able to do this. I have had such great support from them all-Most ex-smokers!! Sorry you have these troubles going right now, but please hang on to your quit. I recently had some very upsetting news and was surprised that a cigarette was the last thing I thought about. I got through it without it. I have really paid attention to the people here, without this site to come to it would have been much harder. Well I guess since you mentioned it I will share my friend. My best friend is so self-centered....I don't believe she does anything if it doesnt benefit herself. Yes this is my BESTEST of BESTEST friends. The other day we were driving down the road and I told her I wanted one of her cigs, I was joking, but I figured she wouldve been thrilled to watch me fail. Well to my surprise she said I was crazy. I asked her if she was serious and she said she would throw her pack out the window before letting me fail on her watch!! She actually said she was proud of me!!! I WAS SHOCKED!!! I guess other people don't understand why she is my best friend but it is times like that when I realize why she is!!! Pheonix, You have a keeper in your friend. Don't worry to much about your daughter smoking, they are pretty smart now days and a lot less of them are starting. Especially if they have a wonderful quitting example in their lives. She is going to be so proud of you. ANd you are going to be so proud also. Let the ex keep her smokes ( and by the way..don't share with her how easy it is now for us to tell who smokes) (isn't the smell just awful?) I can't believe that we ever thought we hid it from anyone.
