Thanks for all your thoughts. I had one cig in my purse, looked at it and that was it. I won't do it again, I had a partial pack left over from Feb 8. I just threw it out. I know I did wrong, couldn't help it I guess. I am still on the 7 mg patch. I take it off at night, have lifesavers, etc. I will get back on track. Thanks again. I WAS BAD....................

Hi there tabjoan, Today I found a brand new pack of cigs in my car (didn't know they were there till I found them staring at me quietly from the back of my SUV)... They were calling to me, whispering my name. I continued cleaning out my SUV, ignoring their junkie voices... Finally, I walked over to my SUV - looked straight at that new pack of cigs, picked them up - took them in my kitchen, opened the pack, and cut each cig up in pieces (then took them outside and dumped the garbage in the garbage:) It felt so good. Till today I had not really been tempted - well today, I was both tempted and caught completely off guard when I saw that new pack staring at me. Man, what an addiction. And ya know what? This addiction is NO stronger than we are... No means N.O.P.E. say it - mean it. Do it... Just say N.O.P.E. - and tell that junkie voice it's not welcome anymore... It will go away, dear one. OK now I'm a Gloria Gayner song! Blessings - be strong and own your Quit! Hi and welcome!! What happened to your marvelous quit!!! Tell us a little about what happened. I have smoked 35 years and am on day 32. I stepped down to 14 mg patch Friday. The weekend was tough. I don't always think of the cigarette, but had some cravings for a couple days. Today was much better. You need to go through all the tools here, read, and post. You need to jump back on the bandwagon if you don't want to smoke. You will find lots of help here. SSC is a great place to hang out. are you in trouble? I would say yes........if you are smoking that means you haven't quit, no matter how many cigarettes you have had. Wherever those cigs are - THROW THEM OUT NOW! galfriday has it right - you need to go thru the tools on this site, and get your resolve back that allowed you to quit on Feb 8th. Why did you quit then? You stayed quit for over 40 days......that's quite an accomplishment. What happened that you bought a pack and started up again? Before you are successful again, you need to figure out what happened this weekend, address it and carry on - not smoking! Read here, post here, lots of folks to give you a shoulder or two to cry on, pound on, lean on........... good luck! good for you.......i recommend not just throwing them away, but MANGLE THE HECK OUT OF THEM. If you just threw the pack into the garbage....it's amazing what the addiction will cause folks to do. Garbage rummaging is something a lot of addicts find themselves doing in the midst of a crave. There must have been a reason to give up a 40 day quit......you don't have to post what it was, but I strongly recommend you re-visit what you were thinking when you lit up the cigarette.......if you haven't already. This addiction is nasty. And you will be tempted again and again - best to find out now what caused you to light up and deal with it. That's what this is all about - dealing with triggers without smoking, whether it be stress, boredom, anger, joy.........whatever. We can not smoke any longer. So we need to wind our way around life like the never-smokers do......one day at a time. good luck My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,378 Amount Saved: $614.25 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 6 Mins: 59 Seconds: 43

Hi tabjoan Welcome, you're not in trouble, but your quit is. Are you off the patch? How long were you on? You may need to rethink your quit plan. Please don't smoke anymore or you will lose this quit completely. There is a saying around here, N.O.P.E. Not one puff ever. It is a VERY slippery slope your on with your quit. 1 smoke turned to 5 and next thing you know you're back to square one. You don't want that do you? Keep strong and post whenever you feel weak. It really will help.
