Hey babs... 22 days for you... way to go girl!!! I haven't been able to post much, (Not By Choice... the Workload Is Big) but it sounds like you are dealing with the rough times very well. You sound a lot more confident than you did back in mid-april. You keep the quit... I'm proud of ya. N.O.P.E. Ron (It sounds like your campground is a nice excape for you. It must be similar to the ones we have in Wisconsin). Dear Babs Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking! You have come to the right place! I got all choked up when reading the responses you recieved! Isn't this a wonderful place!! Babs I have alot of friends.....But I only had 1 or 2 that supported me at the start...and now I have no support. The couple of friends that did support me think I should be way over it! ( the quit) since I am 80 some days in to the quit. I smoked for 34 years and you want me to be over it??? It is only SSC that understands that YES, I still need support and they are here everyday to support me. I am positive I would have not stayed quit without this site. I am here for you and we are all here for you.........usually just a few moments after you post.... just as all the others have promised. You were right to recognize the stress levels and the quit. You will always have stress in your life and smoking does not fix stress....it adds to your stress! Be strong, stay close and write to us often and ya got friends! Hello again Babs! I am so proud of you!! You are doing a great job!! Keep fighting that demon...... Push him out, then stomp on him. Then rid the thought. When you get that thought, or craving, just reconize it. It is a mind game. Then change your thoughts. The more you think about cigs, the more you have craves, and the more intense they will be. Throw those thoughts out!! Fill our mind with positive thoughts. Think of how good you feel. How good you smell. Think of how you have changed. Think of something you have found that you now enjoy. We discover so many things about ourselves when we quit. Make them positive. Focus on the positive. I hope you find a calm road ahead. You sure do deserve it. Keep your spirit high! Your determination is admireable!! You are a wonderful person Babs!! Keep up the great work!! Hi Babs! I'm very proud of you! Keep up the great work! :) You sure did the right thing by leaving. Your friends should have been more considerate of your quit, but remember that they are still addicts. I used to do the same thing. I never respected another persons quit. I think I actually resented them for being quit. :eg: You are doing great with your quit! Keep that determination going strong....... Keep your thoughts positive.......... Enjoy the outside, and breathe in that fresh air!! You are 20 days smoke-free! Rejoice in your new found freedom! ;p 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,174 Amount Saved: $235.44 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 19 Mins: 58 Seconds: 23

Babs, I really feel for you. I too have to put my anger in check. I also, well just recently, developed resentment. My hubby went back to smoking, and I was angry. That has turned into resentment. He will not listen to me when I talk about smoking. He thinks I am nagging at him when I tell him to shut the garage door because I can smell the ashtray. He thinks I am on his a$$ when I walk into our bedroom after him and get a huge wiff on ashtray, and my natural reflex is to gag. I try to hide it, but it is hard when I gag and run out of the room holding my mouth!!! Oh, I had to vent that. Sorry. Anyhow, remember that it is nobody elses fault that we quit. They should not be the people we take it out on because we no longer know how to deal. Okay, but it is not easy. You have to vow to yourself that you will not take it out on your loved ones. Now sticking up for yourself is different. Especially when you feel that you are being dumped on. But keep it clean. Remember to breathe. Listen to a relaxing CD when you feel uptight and need to explode! Oh, and one more thing. Babs, I think you need to do something special for yourself. You deserve it. You have a lot of stuff going on and I think you have forgotten about you. Reward yourself with something, but only for YOU. You are doing GREAT!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,265 Amount Saved: $245.25 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 50 Seconds: 43

Hi Babs - When I was first into my quit - I really felt this inner rage when the slightest thing happened. It was about that time that I got a gift from a non-smoking friend who is really supportive of me. It was a plaque that read: I've Got PMS and ESP - Now I'm a B***H that knows Everything! And that's what I felt like. She thought it was so funny - and it kinda jarred me into the realization that I needed to learn how to manage my anger without smoking. It was really hard at first but just like smoking - it's one step at a time. The ones that don't smoke don't understand the drive that it takes to continue on this path. They don't understand the days where you feel so spacey and out of it. But Babs I have to tell you - those days will pass. It does get better - I promise. You have done the perfect thing by coming here and venting. I have done the same. We are your vitual punching bags - take your best shot and shout it out! Know that we are here for you always. Take your computer on your camping trip and stay close to here. And when that urge to smoke comes on ya - just come online and wait for us - someone will be here to pull you out of that crave - this I promise to you. Hi Babs - I think that you are at 20 days today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you started I knew that you were going to be able to defeat that demon this time!!!! Aren't you feeling better? How are your feet?? I have been looking for your posts. We missed you around here. I am so sorry that the campground was so hard for you but as we said before those people are just trying to trick you and friends don't do that to each other. But down deep inside they wish they could be like you. DON'T SMOKE whatever you do. Do you remember that horrible first week that you went through with all that stress and added pain in your back...DON'T SMOKE and have to go through that again! Stay Strong - you are a wonderful strong woman and I know that your husband and all of us here are very proud of you. I think you deserve a Big Reward!!! Let me know what you are doing to reward yourself!! Hi Babs - Just got home from class and going to bed but I wanted to check with you today. I am so proud of you too! You are learning more and more everyday about what is working for you in your quit. You are gaining more confidence as the weeks are flying by! You are almost at the one month mark!!!! Isn't that the greatest news that you have ever had!!!! You are doing this - and you are an amazing woman. I just knew that you could do this the day that you signed on. Remember that day? You were so tired and hurting...now look at you going to the campgroud, being outside, your feet are better...and life has taken on a new meaning for you. "I realize now that there is a difference if I get to live 1 day longer I will be grateful and to know I had some positive in put with that is even all the better... " There is a great lesson to be learned from this - you are a NON-SMOKER! Just keep on the vigilante for the junkie demon - and kick him to the curb. Once again - I am so proud of you!
