Hi Sunflower, Glad you're feeling better! I haven't got anything to add to these many words of wisdom (yours included), only to say that anybody feeling this way should read Cheryl's great post on this thread - 'Make the non-smoking your life, not the smoking, or fighting the smoking' Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 123 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,708 Amount Saved: 922.5 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 14 Mins: 35 Seconds: 34

Thank you all! I am doing fine now, in fact I am celebrating 4 months today! I don't know what was going on with me the last week, but it was a very bad week for me. I guess it didn't help that my husband were away on a trip. It was very scary to hold that cigarette package in my hand, I was so very close to take one. I felt like I was in trance and then I put the whole package under the water and made sure all of them were trashed. I am so glad I did it, I would never have forgive myself if I hadn't. Again - thank you all for your help, you are the best! Sunflower, I am so sorry that I didn't see your post. I just now saw it and when I saw it was you my heart jumped into my throat... This horrid addiction just consumes our whole life. I'm so happy that you made it through the night. The old nick wants us to think that we are the only one that is going through this, and that we are all alone. Well you showed him just how many people cares about you. So many of us have a tough time around the 100+ days. It just don't make sense, I want to congratulate you for posting and asking for help. And you really got it... My heart rejoices for you... Its so good having you at the beach. You stay strong and believe that you can do this quit....YES YOU CAN..... Cigarettes Not Smoked

Sunflower, I was just reading your post and I hope you will see this cause I am kinda late....but, i just wanted to say, I so remember my 100 day...I just didnt feel like argueing with myself anymore...I just wanted to go back to being normal and relaxing with a cig like I had done for 34 years....It was an everyday battle to not buy a pack... But it occured to me that it really wasnt what i wanted...It was what I needed...the addict in me was trying to lure me back...The addiction was calling...I posted a cry for help and someone told me not to concentrate on what I was missing by not smoking but try and concentrate on what I was gaining by not smoking....I was gaining life and that is what i wanted...I wanted my life with my kids and my beautiful little grandson....I didnt want them to see me hooked up to a breathing machine, I didnt want them to have to say "Mom why didnt you quit smoking!" And then I realized that the cravings I thought I was having were really just strong thoughts and memories of smoking...not really hard core cravings like in the early days of my quit..... Here I am 500 days later and loving my smoke free life.....I still think of cigs every single day...but it is no longer a fight to not smoke...It is just a wonderful Awesome feeling of being able to push the thought aside and remind myself that I no longer smoke...Its great!!!!! Hang in there, you will be so glad you did...If we keep this up, we will be able to enjoy our grandkids for years and years and years to come. Stay Strong Sunflower....It gets better and better and so much easier and easier...WE CAN AND WILL WIN!
