Sunflower, Stay strong, take time out for yourself right now. Stay focused on your quit, you are doing great - bad days or not! Take Care, Melanie ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Congratulations on your 30 day quit. You are doing fantastic. You have SOOO much to celebrate. I am really looking forward to the 30 day mark myself. I still have a while to go though. I would apoligize to your husband, and explain why you started the fight and maybe he can find a way to help you. Go out to dinner and have a GREAT time. It sounds to me that you both could use a night out. It always seems to help me when I am in the "feeling sorry for myself mood" Keep us updated as to how you are doing. I know just what you mean.....the 30 day slump; but it gets better. I wish quitting "just" was hell for the first week and then day to day improvement from that point. It's a roller coaster ride, instead. It sucks quite a lot. I take great heart in the posts of our mature quitters because it appears that the ride eventually ends. One "amusement park ride" you never want to ride again! I can't even see that right now. Very tough. There's a lot of support now days- not only in this great site, but (and to my surprize) also in our communities. I've just signed up for a free one on one counseling research group(psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, etc) sponsored by the state in an area hospital here. They provide reimbursement and/or vouchers for cessation assistment (meds, patches). Even parking is free. Also there are nicotine anonymous groups, etc all over. Finally this "habit" is getting recognized for the addiction it really is. It's horrible (quitting), but there's a hell of a lot more support, and negative reinforcement(smoking laws), than in the 70's, 80's and 90's- all of which are great reasons to give it your best effort. Keep up the good work! I have been looking forward to this day for a whole month and here I am, in no mood to celebrate at all. Yesterday I started a fight with my husband for no other reason than that I felt bad and sorry for myself. We are still not talking with each other and tonight we are supposed to have a nice dinner and celebrate. I have done pretty good so far, being nice and relaxed about my quit, but now it seems like the devil have overtaken me. Well, I will take some more deep breaths..... Thank you all! I guess I should have posted this under another thread... The feelings I have had the last couple of days is pretty much the same that I have read a lot of the quitters have during the 30 days dip. I can't concentrate on work, I am emotional and I had to stop myself for not crying when I read your kind responses and R-man's nice poem. Hopefully this will go over pretty soon. Thank you!

And this too shall pass. Please stay strong my bright and beautiful Sunflower. Please be gentle with yourself. Please speak kindly to yourself. Please know for yourself how much you have moved through and how strong, couragious and persistant you have been in getting to 30 days! Congratulations. Perhaps your reward could be to give yourself the gift of some unconditional love and some very soothing breaths to your self. Pat yourself on the back. Give yourself a gentle and kind caress. Congratulations of 30 days! [font=Comic Sans MS] Hey Sunflower.. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad time with your hubby. Guess what, we are basically in the same boat. I had a big fight with my 19 year old son this morning. He lives at home and second semester in college. He made little effort last semester and is doing no different this time around. His priority is socializing.. Thing is I told him he could move back home if he would be really serious about school and clean up after himself and respect that this is my home. He is breaking all of the rules. He has a dog that he never sees and I have to chase him to even feed and water her. He stays out until all hours of the night and sleeps through his classes. I was fed up this morning.. tried to reason with him.. he was so rude.. He took off for a weekend in Dallas and I am here mad and left with the dog. I was looking around like I haven't since the beginning.. I was actually pacing. I finally decided that I needed to get a hold of myself.. and that this is a normal part of life. That smoking would not make it any better and that this will pass.. Damn kids... lol His dad pays his school expenses and sends him money and he works part time.. maybe time to let 19 year old grow up .. I don't know.. Anyway.. tell him you didn't mean it and have a great dinner.. you deserve it.. Life is always going to happen to us.. 30 days !!! You are doing great.. you can't ever go back now !! Hang Tuff girl.. it will all work out.. you'll see. Have the dinner anyway. Appologize. Talk about how hard it is. He'll understand. You can't stuff the feelings you have about smoking, you have to be open and honest. Sometimes you need to break down and tell it like it is. I have appologized so many times to my girlfriend about my "depression" and mood swings, etc. You'll feel better. You both love eachother, for better or worse.
