Chickenstix, You sound exactly word for word how I felt at that time in my quit. I can't remember when it lifted but it did. I am still not 100% back but I am a lot better. I like an organized house also and I was'nt doing the stuff I normally would do. Just go with it and don't worry about it. That is what I told myself. The most important thing is not to smoke. If we have to be a little lazy for awhile then so be it. You have to listen to your body. I feel just like you chickenstix and shadoww. MY house is a mess and I have no energy. I don't feel like getting dressed to go out. Yesterday was a year since my son died, but I have felt this way ever since I quit smoking. I sit in front of the tv and fall asleep. I don't even bother to open the curtains. Will we always feel this tired and how can we motivate ourselves to want to do someting about it? ChickenStix- Let me just say I thought I had lost my mind the first time I cried because I wanted a smoke so bad. I cant tell you how things will go for you but I will say that my week 2 and week 4 were absolute HELL! As soon as I got to week 3 and week 5 they were better. I am at week 8 and I havent cried (for a smoke) in 4 weeks. My husband worse weeks were 2 and 3 also. Wow Chicken I can so relate to everything you're saying!! Like Rosie it hit me a little later (around day 40) and what a monster I became - and so miserable and slobbish. There is a lot of good advice, and one thing I've learned to do in all this is go with it - meaning if I want to hide for a bit (assuming the house isn't burning down and the kids are fed and watered), I go and hide. If I don't feel like seeing anyone, I don't. I haven't even been answering the phone - well I figure if it's important they can phone my mobile and I can see who it is, and if the haven't got my mobile number, chances are all I'm missing is a double glazing opportunity!! Let me say, your rants are great Chicken - you make me smile and forget my own troubles for a min - stay strong girl - way to go!! Wow, ChickenStix, you sure are feelin' it right now!! The IT I'm talking about usually seems to come around the 1 month or 40 day mark. You are a little early, but you must be a high achiever! I was a little late at 45 days. Hey people, It really is going to be OK! There once was a time when I would have killed anyone who showed up at my house. I didn't want company, didn't want family, and did not care who knew it. Fortunately, no body knew because they didn't come and I never told them. But you will all get past this. One day soon, you will discover that it was a little easier to get out of bed today, you haven't thought about smoking in a day or so. OK, so you still have to make yourself load the dishwasher. But you can sweep the kitchen after lunch. Open the curtains, let the light in. There is a whole new world out there, and as soon as you visit the weight loss site on here and get shed of those 10 pounds you picked up, you can crawl out and see if the flowers are starting to come up. Get to the store and get a new candle to take your bubble bath by. There is nobody who cares if you yell in the bathtub. Relax to a new reward CD, and enjoy some chocolate "love". Eventually, we all get well. ChickenStix, Kiwi calls it substance abuse 101, I call it Welcome to Quit Hell. Your body, specifically your brain, is doing its best to mess with you. For the first month or so of my quit I slept as much as I could. I have never slept so much in my entire life. And my dazzling personality :8o: was even more full of itself! Hey, we all go through it. It's a rite of passage. Give yourself some slack. You spent years smoking. It will take more than a few weeks to completely get over it. You are in the middle of breaking one of the worst addictions known to mankind. Don't be so rough on yourself. Of course, it doesn't help that your hubby smokes, but your quit is yours and yours alone. Don't be upset that you blow off some steam now and then or that you are tired more. Hoooweeee! Ol' Nic's really putting you through the wringer, isn't he? Right now your brain chemistry is in serious turmoil. For years it relied on nicotine to sort of "steer the course" and now the nic is gone. Some people get depressed and cry, some sleep, some get angry. You get angry. It is normal. It does pass. Rewarding yourself often will help it pass sooner. The rewards stimulate the areas of the brain the nicotine stimulated, helping them to get over the loss sooner, much like exercising helps muscles rebuild. Rewards don't have to be expensive, or cost anything at all. They just have to make you happy. For example, today I went shopping for my one year reward, just seeking information. That alone was a bit of a reward and it didn't cost a thing. Hang in there, ChickenStix. Three weeks quit is quite an accomplishment (many don't make it this far).
