Chris, why would you throw a political comment on this site? It is not going to help anyone quit. There are plenty of political blogs for you to vent your feelings on that topic.

i am so proud of you, tom, for getting through the tough situation and coming back to quit again. kimi is right. we all have to wait for our own right time. i quit a couple of weeks ago and began smoking again due to an uncontrollable craving. that was clearly not my right time to quit. but then i found my right time seven days ago and i've done wonderfully since then. and each person is different in their quit. i haven't had many cravings this go around; i consider myself lucky. each person just has to determine what kind of quit theirs is and plow through it with all the guts and moxy they have. look that nicodemon in the face and tell him he will not get you this time. you can do it and we're all happy you're back here on the website. stay close and let us help you through. --siomarie My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 109 Amount Saved: $30.1 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 24 Seconds: 23

stay strong, tom! you CAN do it; stick to your guns and remember: we've all been there for that first day, so yell your head off if that's what it takes. just don't smoke. we're here for you. --siomarie My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $25.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 3 Seconds: 3

welcome matt and congrats on your first day! the first day is always rough, so remember to keep yourself stress-free and take some time for you today. it's not an easy or fun experience to go through, but just think: if you start smoking again now, you've got to quit all over again! that's what kept me smoke-free over the weekend when i was dying for a cigarette. you can do it and welcome! --siobhan My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 67 Amount Saved: $17.2 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 57 Seconds: 28

I quit on the first of the month - does that allow me access to the group? I expected that the mornings would be difficult. When I smoked I would have up to 6 or 7 cigarettes before I got to work. Surprisingly, the mornings and the days have been smooth sailing and it's in the evenings when I experience the cravings. They are diminishing in strength and quantity as the days pass. Water, deep breathing and chewing gum help, and I am confident that I won't give into any cravings. What I am afraid of is that something that I wasn't prepared for will ambush me and trip me, make me slip, and return me to smoking 25 cigarettes a day. I suppose that I just have to be as vigilant as a top notch special agent. A little thing that I find helpful is to pretend that I can go back to being 13 again. (actually it is easy. I am 31 now and I just switch the digits around!) I hated smoking then and the thought of trying even one cigarette was utterly repulsive to me. Sometimes, rather than counting the days that I have not smoked - especially at this early stage when there are so few of them - I prefer to look towards the future, knowing that for the rest of my living days I will not smoke - just like my 13 year old self would never smoke. (And I'll never have to be that 15 year old who did start to smoke.) Enough nonsense now My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 199 Amount Saved: 9.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 23 Seconds: 40

One of the main reasons for me quitting is that I want to start a family. I don't want my kids to grow up with smoking parents. I didn't have to, why should they. Ang, you are so smart to quit now!
