Elly, pitty the poor smoker ! It's not that gross it's just a plain and simple addiction to nicotine... & that's all. This thinking helped me - cos it's the truth. I spose my little piece of advice would be not to replace smoking with candy or any bad habit... drink lots of water, eat heaps of fruit & do a little bit of exercise(just like those non-smokers do) & you'll be happy. Gum is o.k.....as long as it doesn't have nicotine in it - you won't get addicted to it ! I'm a big fan of Cold Turkey also, sounds like you've got it licked ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 425 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,647 Amount Saved: $2762.5 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 0 Mins: 33 Seconds: 37

Elle, where is your quit meter ? I tried twice, once cold turkey & then NRT (gum). I lasted about 3 weeks on the NRT gum. This time is different... likemost others here, i 'swatted' up & understand what i'm fighting. The good thing about Cold turkey is that you get over the nicotine withdrawl in 3 days. this leaves 3 weeks of emotional journey & the of the time learning to adjust to a non-smoking lifestyle. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 425 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,649 Amount Saved: $2762.5 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 0 Mins: 46 Seconds: 43

CONGRATULATIONS ELLE AND TUFFY!!!!!!!! You have both made a wonderful decision to stop smoking. AND you have found the best place to be for help and encouragment in you new way of living. This is not an easy road to travel but working the quit program on the left is helpful and your determination and knowledge will pull you through the rough places in the road.
