1. Been cold turkey since day one.... so it's 13 days so far. 2. More than I'd like to admit. 20 to 25 minutes probably. 3. About as many times as I used to smoke one. Well I would but I'm still on NRT so it wouldn't represent being 100% nicotine free. I don't want to stay on it (NRT) long and I think by reading posts like yours (from people at various stages of their quit so long as they are completely 100% Nicotine free)will greatly encourage not only cold turkey quitters, but also those who are using NRT. Based on a great thread idea I saw somewhere else. People who are totally nicotine free (have finished any NRT as well), post the following info: 1. How long have you been completely nicotine free? 2. How many seconds per day do you spend craving a cigarette? 3. How many times do you think about a cigarette? etc. 4. Any other statistical information that would be inspiring to other quitters either cold turkeys or NRTs who want to be Nicotine free. This is especially set up for the benefit of newbies and those still using NRT to act as a testimony to those who are completely Nicotine free!! thought i'd bump this for the folks in Hell Week (and anyone else who needs it!) I became "nic free" 7 days ago I spend about 15 minutes a day craving (not too shabby, as I was CONSUMED with cravings during Hell Week!) Let me start out by saying, I smoked for 47 years, anywhere from 2 to 4 packs a day. I got off the patch on Christmas eve. It was a little premature, but I was admitted to the hospital (again). I stayed off it for about a week and a half. Then got some intense craves for a few days. I had some nicotine lozenges, in desperation I popped one in my mouth. It helped. I used them for a couple of days, then quit. I've been nicotine free now for about a week. The cravings are very low, but I still think about smoking right after all the strong triggers (after meals, driving, etc.) I guess about a half hour a day. It would be impossible for me to quit cold turkey. The NRTs work, if you want them to work. It's easier, but it is still tough. They're not miracle cures. Shevie has nailed it ! ditto ... Firstly i need to make clear that i have never 'wanted' a cigarette since i quit. here you go. 1. Completely Nicotine Free ...... Meter says it. 2. I wouldn't say 'crave', i would spend probably 30 seconds a day with only an empty feeling of "i used to do that" this is usually triggered when i see or smell one, it's important not to dwell on this thought. 3. as sbove, usually triggered by other smokers or Sometimes i would feel 'something is missing' when i finish something i would have usually rewarded myself with a smoke, but it's only momentarily. 4. Don't replace smoking with another bad habbit. Being around other smokers (my family) has helped me deal with my quit big time, i've learnt that smokers are scared of us non-smokers, they are so terrified we are going to tell them to stop smoking. 1. Been completely nico free for 138 days now... 2. No craves at all anymore :) 3. Still have thoughts of a cig every now and then...mostly in the evenings, but the thoughts don't last very long at all before my mind is onto other thoughts... 4. I never used NRT, but was on Wellubtrin for 3 months....It was my lifesaver. 1. I've been 100% nicotine free for 78 days. 2. I have no idea how many seconds I spend thinking about smoking, but just to take a guess, probably about 2 minutes a day or less. 3. I probably think about smoking 5 times a day on a REALLY bad day. Usually, 1 or 2 at the most. 4. Disclaimer: I've had 3 slips in the last 210 days (none in the last 78 days) so my statistics may be a little bit different from others who have 78 days on their meters. My first completely crave-free day came at 50 days (the first one), but I have quite a few days where I don't think about smoking at all. Great idea Ex-Roller. 1. i have been completely nic free for 13 days. 2. this time I just went cold turkey but I have used the gum before and found it helpful 2 I think about cigarettes... well... to be honest quite a bit during the day but no where NEAR as much as I did when I was smoking. 3 I'm still on a roller coaster with cravings. Yesterday was pretty hard but today is much better. I'm nic free 2 weeks tomorrow and I can hardly stand myself, I am so proud.
