Cincere...what is done is done. Pick yourself up and lets get going again here. Reseting your meter is a personal choice but that isn't even the issue here. Who cares about the meter. The issue here is your quit. You have to want to be quit more than you want to smoke. I know about the depression. I have suffered with it too and there are days that I just don't accomplish a whole lot. Protect your quit at all costs. When you feel the negative thinking coming on, replace it with possitive thinking. It isn't easy but you can do it. You have to reprogram your thinking. Find something inspiring to start each day with...a quote, scripture, a poem...whatever works for you. When you feel like giving up you just keep going. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. That is how you get to the freedom. One step at a time, one day at a time. It doesn't matter what you have done. What matters is what are you going to do now?

cincere, I forgot the most important part! Please do see your doctor about the depression. We can self-medicate with nicotine. If you were already on meds before quitting, they will most likely need to be adjusted...especially during the first year. You are very right in saying that it's hard have a positive outlook when depressed. Part of having clinical depression is feeling like things are hopeless. And if we feel things are hopeless, why try them? The good news is...we don't have to feel hopeless! ~huggs~

I've learned not to touch pots on the stove. I've learned not to carry too much going down steps. But... I have learned to smile at strangers. I have learned to treat myself to Starbucks coffee. I have learned to shave my legs with lather. I have learned to brush and floss my teeth. I have learned to breathe deeply. Some of these things I learned by getting hurt. some of these things I learned by having the reward. Find what works for you...learn from your mistakes and learn from your rewards. We CAN do this! The most, most important thing at this point is NOT the two cigarettes that you smoked......it's all the ones that you didn't smoke....it's all the days you remained free from the demon....don't let the slip become the focal point. don't let yourself stay in the frame of mind of the slip.....get back into the frame of mind of a quitter. To keep thinking on the slip is to keep thinking about smoking. A quitter has to think in the "smoke free tense". Figure out how to avoid it happening again, store that information, keep a plan in place should that same situation arise again.....and then.......move on. you don't smoke.....concentrate on that. Cincere, The important thing is that you didn't continue smoking! You had a slip and now we move on! You know what has to be done, so do it. Get out your mechanisms again and really concentrate on avoiding the temptation. Talk to your doctor about your medications and work together to come up with a plan that is right for you.
