Redrosie, girl you are our rose in the ssc site. This last weekend I had such a rough time that came out of no where, and I thought of you and that is what gave me strength and got me through. You are always here for everyone, no matter what you are here with encouraging words and insight. So I pray with all the post you will receive in this time of YOUR need that we can help you through this time. And no matter what know that you have MANY MANY MANY here that support you and care for you and are here for you. As Lady says put your hand in our hands and together we will walk through this with you. Redrosie, you are my pillar, man! I know how you feel, though - I'm in day 46 and have had some horrific out of the blue cravings. I think the main thing that has helped me is that I think "do I like smoking better than not smoking?" Right now, to throw away this effort, and to loose all the accomplishment, along with going back to the addiction, smell, taste, slavery - Well... It makes me stop and think. Even with the cravings, in between them I have flashes of such utter glee and relief every now and then, like a huge weight is being lifted off my shoulders. I'm sure you do, too. Focus on that. You are worth it! Thank you so much for all your inspiring words on this forum - I guess you can see how important you are to all of us!! :) (wish I had some cool graphics for ya!) Dear Redrosie, Please read this post that I got off of another site. I felt the same as you the other day and then I read this and felt much better. I know it is long but try and read the whole thing. I think you will be glad you did. It really does relate to us. From tc_guy 5/7/2002 Peace to all who read this. I seldom start a post, unless it is to honor someone's anniversary. But I feel compelled to share something that I seem to be sharing a lot of lately... and that is my thoughts on 'No Man's Land'. No Man's Land is a dangerous and scary place... and it is a lonely time during a quit. I call No Man's Land that period of time between about 1 month and 3 or 4 months into your quit, or about the time from the end of your first month until you become an Elder. This is a time when many people slip and go into a full relapse and have to start over... if they can start over, that is. I have some observations that may help some of you who are literally hanging on by your fingernails... or who may find yourself there tomorrow. The first month is an exhausting but exhilirating experience... you are locked in nearly daily struggles and you get the satisfaction of successfully beating your addiction that day. You go to bed a WINNER each night (as Troutnut would say), and you are justifiably proud of yourself. Your friends and family are also supportive as they see you struggling each day to maintain your quit. And you are being constantly supported here, whether or not you post... just being here is good for your quit. And so, the battles are won and it actually becomes easier and the battles occur less often as you finish 30 days or so. Around 60 days, you're starting to have some really good days, with very few craves and some nice insights about yourself... but then again, you still have some bad days. Those bad days can really be depressing... you begin to wonder if you're ever gonna be able to relax. Your junkie is whispering to you, telling you that 'just one' won't hurt. You've conquered your daily triggers, but now you start trippiing over the occasional ones... a death in the family, unexpectedly bad news, money problems, health problems, going on a long car ride, a trip to the bar, or whatever. You have a strong crave and you begin t

How did I miss this? I'm so glad that you are feeling a bit better. Don't give in before the miracle happens because it will happen... One day you will be able to say I've won. This beast has been reduced in size and not smoking will be such a simple choice. I know, I've been there. I just forgot how hard it was to get through "no mans land". It does pass and there will be many wonderful smoke free days ahead. Heck, we've only got the rest of our lives. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,794 Amount Saved: $798.75 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 7 Mins: 46 Seconds: 53

Hi Redrosie, Its been a few days since I have been here and I must sayreading this post of yours was a big surprise to me. I thought of all people you were the one I knew would make it. You have given many people here great advice and support. You cant give in to this evil POS called a cigarette! We quit on the same day and havent you noticed lately the great improvement in your breathing? I notice a little improvement the first week I quit, but I cant believe how easy it is for me to go up several flights of steps now ITS A GREAT FEELING TO BE ABLE TO BREATH!! And doesnt your house, your hair, your clothes, your car, your purse, your jacket all smell good now???? Cant you smell the nasty nicotine on other people as they walk by you? Doesnt your face look better with blood flowing smoothly though it? And lets not forget what your future will hold for you (if you give in) you are guaranteed to spend you last moments in life struggling for air. On a positive note you have held strong so far, just like the Redrosie we all know and love! Hang in there and please keep us posted. We need you here! P.S. Have you ever tried sucking on a tootsie roll sucker it keeps the cravings down, and keeps your mouth busy and the little white stick reminds the mind of a cigarette and it last about as long as smoking a cigarette does. It worked every time for me. And one more tip (then I will shut up)..cinnamon is suppose to curve the cravings. I have cinnamon scented candles in all the rooms and I also think that really helped! OKOKOK this is just my desperate attempt to keep you "clean". You're doing great! Hi rosie! I was sad to see that you had some struggles and I am happier to see that you worked thru with flying colors may I add. It is sad to see the slips and struggles going on here. It is people like you that make this site a soft landing spot to pick yourself up and start again. Thank you for that. Families are strange beings all together they may not tell you all the time how great you are but behind your back they let the world know how great you are. Rosie you are doing amazing 74 days with out a cigarette. You have inspired so many here I am sure you are the same way to all the people in your life. I hope you have a Happy day. Polly :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,986 Amount Saved: $270.1 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 3 Mins: 47 Seconds: 22

Hey there, I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope that is has passed and you are doing better today. I haven't been posting because I am still smoking. I don't want you to feel like I do. Trust me when I tell you Red it's not worth it. You are doing amazing and have helped so many people on this site (and I am sure in your life as well) even though it's not a reason to keep quit for everybody here. You need to remember why you started this long Journey in the fist place. Like Lady said look back and remember. And even though I am not here often I will respond to a friend in need. My fellow Ash Kicker!!! :)

Hi Rosie - I know what you mean about losing the excitement about quitting and getting those careless thoughts, and I had exactly the same thing recently. Try to restore that excitement - just think how cool it is to be a New Year Quitter!! You can only be that once a year, and you're one of them!! This is an empty year, void of nicotine and hacky lungs!! How cool to make 2006 completely smoke free!! Think of positives all the time - you have done SO, SO well!! You are a real inspiration to us all and keep us all roflol at your quirky posts!! You can get through this....you MUST get through this....yes, you WILL get through this!! You are a Jan 06 ash kicker!!!! Loads of hugs xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 854 Amount Saved: 85.2 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 12 Mins: 48 Seconds: 11

ahhhhhhh Rosie...........sorry I wasn't there for you, like you were for me only a few weeks ago when I was going thru my own "mini Hell week". I know where you are coming from girl - I had the screaming meemies last weekend - hubby no longer being "extra nice" (actually kinda ticked off that I am STILL having thoughts of smoking) and I have been allowing my thoughts to wander a bit in the direction of the convenience store! But that's as far as it went. Just thoughts. And if I can do this, YOU CAN TOO. It may take a few days before the struggles subside, but you will beat them back into their wee brain cave - this time roll a huge boulder in front of the entrance so they can't get out again! From what I have read, this is the period in many a quitter's quit where they start having hilly spots again. Like hell week, only 10 weeks AFTER you've quit. It sucks, truly it does....... But - I keep thinking of my stats. And how I have fought HARD to get where I am now. and YOU HAVE TOO. You have come a long way girl, to give up now. And look at all of the people you have touched over the days and weeks with your words of encouragement - all lining up to give back some of what you have so freely handed of yourself. You can do this. And we can help. Hang tight for a few more days. I PROMISE it will get better. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 87 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,318 Amount Saved: $587.25 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 22 Mins: 26 Seconds: 28

Golpherman, you made me laugh out loud with your first paragraph. It kind of brought to mind my marriage analogy again. lol. Seriously my hubby is a wonderful man who is feeling a little useless right now. He was one of the smart ones who never gave in to peer pressure like I did and smoked. He is very happy I have this site to rant to. You mention putting my emotions in a closet, and ladybugg you said our minds are warped and subceptable to the nicodemon. Those statements both rang true with me. Thanks for the bump and the bugg hugg ladybugg, I am off to read it now.(the bump, not the hugg) redrosie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,774 Amount Saved: $605.9 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 4 Mins: 52 Seconds: 52
