Today is my 90 days.I am so glad to be here.I smoked 47 years and I quit many times. This time I made it.This site helped so much. I could come here and find out about every thing I needed to know. Also I was not alone in my quit.I went to a support group every week was on patches and Wellbutern.Today I go to drs.and I should be off everything. My next thing is to lose the 10 Ibs I gained because I was eating candy all day.Today I got rid of all candy I have. I am smoke and candy free. Now I know that I can do anything I want to. I am strong!!!!!! Thanks for the reminder that I will always be "one puff away from a pack a day." Yet a big thanks for the encouragement that years of not smoking is possible. Thanks for the encouragement and for saying what I've been thinking lately: Every once in awhile, with just the right trigger, I think, "Wow, I wish I still smoked." But you're right: As soon as I really remember it for what it was, and not the romantic, feel-good memory I used to seduce myself with, the thought passes. And I take that deep-breath of happy resolve. Just thought I would check in for those newbies who are wondering if it will ever get better. Well yes in fact it does,it just takes time. For a very long time I wondered if the cravings would ever go away, even after one, two and perhaps into the third year\. I still had those thoughts about smoking. Today I no longer have the craving but know that I'm still just one smoke from getting hooked. Sometimes for a brief second I think it would be nice to draw back once again on that smoke and then I remember how hooked I was and it passes. I'll always be a smoker in recovery.
