Neek, If they were your friends to begin with they wouldn't be hasseling you about not smoking and calling you stubborn. They would be suportive and telling you great job even if they don't want to quit themselves. I say just ignore them.. Your better off without them trying to sway you back to smoking. Or start hasseling them everytime they come back from Break say something like oh gross you guys stink. Become one of those reformed smokers that all smokers hate, nag, nag and then nag somemore.. But don't give in never give in. We got through yesterday and we can make it.. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 313 Amount Saved: $65 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 33 Seconds: 33

Yeah, you know, those people you used to spend every break together with outside. The 5 or 6 of them here at work are not as nice as they used to be at the beginning of my quit. They left me alone for the first few days. Now they are calling me "stubborn" and keep going through the ritual of asking me if I want to go out to smoke with them. A co-worker of mine has quit probably 5 or 6 times. But keeps returning to smoking because of another co-worker that says "I will never quit". I can only imagine he thinks it's funny, but to me it's difficult for me to handle. How do you all deal with co-workers that smoke. Your "friends" that you used to hang out with. I try to conversate with them indoors when there isn't any smoking, but it's difficult at best.

It's just really annoying you know? I know how it feels to be called "stinky" and have jokes made about me when I come back from smoking. I'm not going to smoke with them. What bugs me the most is that my quit to them is a joke. Even though they don't have the balls to quit themselves... especially cold turkey. Everyone sort of sat up and took notice of my quit yesterday. Seeing as it was a week everyone was curious as to how I have been fairing in my quest. I told them that I was clean, no cheating, no slips. Most were impressed, especially when I said I was cold turkey. My girlfriend is fantastic at keep me focused. We cuddle for hours when I get home from work watch movies / TV, etc. I am convinced I wouldn't have made it this far if it weren't for her. She means so much to me. 8 days is a big one for me. I am going on a 4 day vacation tomorrow to Rocky Pointe Mexico. The girlfriend is coming so I can't smoke. That'll take me to day 12 weither I like it or not.

Intersting thing just happened. One of the smokers stopped by my cube and said "I don't see you much these days."... To which I replied "Yeah, been trying to lay low you know?". "How long has it been?" "It'll be 7 days in 2 hours and 30 minutes" "Good for you, I might follow in your footsteps". Color me so surprised.

Way to go Neek. Hold on to that girl, she sounds great. As for the people at work...you just have to take it with a grain of salt. They will either continue to be non-supportive (and if they do, there could be any number of reasons why) or, if they really are your friends, they'll come around. Right now they just don't know how to act towards the new you. I think the most likely reasons for their behavior have already been addressed above. Remember, you are getting used to the new you, developing new behaviors and learning how to interact with smokers...they need to learn how to interact with the new non-smoking you too. No smoking, no exceptions. My husband quit last year for a short period and it was agonizing to me.My addiction saw him as a threat,I was really angry at him(i had more sex with him in those 16 days Just to try to get him to take a puff of the one (BLUSH) just after. Butterfly is so-so rite..i protected my active addiction from my husbands quit, I went to any lenght to keep my smokes. I enjoyed smoking. My husband and I quit together, he watches my meter(he cheers us on)we stay ahead by staying positive...Just for today, one day at a time. Remember its not the smokers, its the addiction. Its also alot about choice, I chose to be a non-smoker,nobody could MAKE me smoke or not smoke.
