do you ever fear NOT craving

Hi Sheller, I am feeling the same as you, I'm having no craves at all right now. I think having a little fear of a strong crave is smart though. It will keep you on your toes in case you ever get another one. You now know how to protect your quit. Keep Strong Sheller, you're doing great. Good morning Sheller. There have been several times throughout my quit that I have craved or "thought" of smoking. These are usually during stressful situations. Someone told me to dismiss the thought as quickly as it begins. Don't give it the time of day. Just laugh the craves off. Sound dumb? Well, it works! Yesterday afternoon, I was really upset and stressed out and the thought of smoking didn't even cross my mind. Not for a second! I didn't even realize it until later. So do I fear NOT craving? No. I welcome it. There is Life after smoking. "Embrace" it. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 247 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,947 Amount Saved: $864.5 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 19 Mins: 12 Seconds: 32

Hi all, I know it sounds dumb, but for the last couple of weeks I really haven't had any strong cravings. It's been more like.. well.. you know when you walk through a cloud of smoke outside a bar, now I just inhale and go "ahhh I remember that" where it used to drive me snakey. I'm afraid of the strong crave. I've become used to mild reminders and not mind bending craves. I know they come back, it's how I lost my last quit. I will stay positive and stay quit. Sheller, Back on day 58 of my quit I had a miserable, all day crave. I came here and posted. It was beating me with a baseball bat. Finally, in the afternoon, after about 7-8 hours of putting up with it I went to a local Dairy Queen and killed it off with a delicious ice cream treat. Since that time I've not had anything even close to that. Yes, I fully expect to get a "crave", or better put, a "thought" about smoking in the future. I've already had many little thoughts from time to time, but I very quickly dismiss them. The bottom line is that it's up to you whether you give the crave or thought power over you. The crave will be as bad as you make it. Never forget that. We control our responses to stimuli. You know what quitting is all about. The more you just go about your life, without thinking about cigarettes, the less impact it will have on you. Be confident. You haven't smoked in months. At this point it will be a conscious effort on your part to pick them up again. Don't let them control you ever again. Remember.... If I have just one I will be back where I started. Where I started was desperately wishing I could be where I am today. Be Strong. Be Smart. Hi, Sheller. You need not fear anything that you have knowledge of. By now you've learned that craves are beatable, that by simple perserverance you can get through them unscathed. Remember that if and when they hit. Around days 85 - 87, or so, I was slammed hard by the worst craves of my quit. Not a constant one, they came in waves. I just grabbed hold of the thought that they will pass and pressed on. They did and they were the last killer craves I've had.
