Hi Carpepax, I'm another May starter - 11 days & counting! The first few days of my quit I was as sleepy as anything and completely vague. But the past few days I've been sleeping very lightly and the slightest noise wakes me up & I can't get back to sleep. And I love my sleep. I think and hope that it is all part of the chemical adjustment process. I'm also currently going through the nicotine detox of coughing, sore throat etc. I think that we need to be kind to ourselves in this first month. Each symptom of rebalancing demonstrates how much healthier we are becoming! Can anyone out there please tell me why I have these nicotine withdrawals symptoms while using NRT? I keep waking up during my sleep too. Often at the same times. About every 2 hours. It is not very relaxing. I think Bingo has some great advice. Check with your doctor about your sleeping. :) Mira My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 233 Amount Saved: $38.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 38 Seconds: 34

Hi Chickstarr, One of two things may be causing this. Depending on which NRT your using, you're body is either going through the normal withdrawals of nicotine or it's the NRT itself. If the NRT is providing less nicotine than your cigarettes did, it's just as Casey mention you're body adjusting to having more energy that smoking deprived it of. If the NRT is the patch or Zyban/Wellbutrin/Habitrol, it's a side effect, you're body should adjust. If it doesn't consult your doctor. In the meantime, you can try wearing yourself out with physical activity 5 hours before bed. Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Care - I'm also still having sleeping problems. I was generally tired a lot before I quit. After I quit, I found myself waking up anywhere from 4-5 times a night to sometimes every 30 minutes. I did finally go get a sleep study done and found I do have sleep apnea along with some leg movement problems. What does this all mean for you? I'd just say that if it doesn't clear up in the next week, talk to your Doc about it would be my untrained advice. Hi Carpepax, Are you on patches? If so, try taking the patch off at night. I had problems until I did this. No significant cravings in the morning either (and I was a 30+ a day smoker) Take care Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,064 Amount Saved: 765 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 0 Mins: 37 Seconds: 56

Hi there! I only had a few days where I had problems sleeping. Mostly mine were caused by my restless leg syndrome. I also developed a sleep apnea early on in my quit. It sucked. But I actually grew out of it. During that time though, I took naps. I am fortunate that I am a stay at home mom. Get any kind of sleep that you can. It will go away. Maybe try a sleepy time tea at night?? I'll send you sleepy thoughts from Simi, Okay neighbor??? Take care. ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 82 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,475 Amount Saved: $268.14 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 15 Mins: 19 Seconds: 25

Hi All, It works so well - MELATONIN - I keep talking about it but it has gotten me through some of my sleepless nights for a long time. I bought a bottle today at Sam's Club - think it was around $6.00. No drug hangover as its all natural. Blessings and Sweetest Dreams:) Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 84 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,940 Amount Saved: $390.6 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 21 Mins: 33 Seconds: 55

carpepax - I am using Wellbutrin as well. For the first month or so I would wake up at night - on and off and not be able to get back to sleep. I started taking a tylenol pm about 8:30 p.m. and I slept like a log and felt refreshed in the mornings. I don't have to do that anymore and am sleeping fine - but was not at first. It's pretty normal. Hi Mr. Ed, No, no patches. I have heard that they would make it worse of course of course of course. Sorry, couldn't help it. I'm using Welbutrin and it's doing wonders for keeping the crave at barely noticable. Yay for that! Strength be with us. Someone, anyone?! How long does the insomnia go on for? I'm just wondering if anyone has a point of reference. Does it stay this way because you don't need as much sleep or do you "recalibrate?" Don't get me wrong, it's not like I haven't gone without sleep before, but that wasn't caused by a LACK of drugs in my system! Strength be with us.
