Khane, 4, and Shevie thanks for joining in this thread :) Here'e the rundown of my day: I actually did run around on 2 breaks today (3 if you count the nice little walk for a signature in another building and 4 if you count the extended yakkity chat in the cofferoom lol!) I went with my friend (oh he's so wonderful *drool* :p ) twice today. No I didn't say I did him twice I said I went with him twice. LOL. You figure that one out. We went outside in the morning, we sat outside and talked over a mid-morning java break. yeah, some break, it was at least 30 minutes. LOL. Then we went for a walk to get that signature. Another 25 minutes. Hmmm. Nice sunny day too... This afternoon we went down to Starbucks after I posted up here that I was due for a break. Another 30 minutes. 15 to walk down, 10 min on the line and 15 min to walk back. Ok it was 40 minutes. lol. I wasn't counting. he is so cute. Th extra extended coffe break in the coffee room was also had by he and I, chatting about the office space and who was going to be sitting where...uh yup, keep talking love, yes I see you've been working out, that I don't smoke anymore either we should start running ;) LOL Not know how to take a break? nah, not me (teehee)! ;) I probably should cut back a lil...just a lil.... :) OK whew what a DAY! Tomorrow I will promise again! Thanks for joining in with me today!! This is definitely the time of day that I would ABSOLUTLEY LOVE ONE! After being on the computer for awhile AND being at work AND training people, boy my mind needs a umm, break. But noooooooo wayyyyyy Jooooooooosssssseeeeeeeeeeee. I am stronger than my cravings are. I am BIGGER than Nic! Ok I feel better LOL. I just had to say what I said and now I can go back to work and enjoy the airflow ;) I just needed to come here and say AHH!! Perhaps that shall be my reward today :) Many Blessings, Eve C.A.R.E. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 85 Amount Saved: $30 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 34 Seconds: 33

Hi, Eve. This is a great thread you've started. :) I promise to come here and holler loud and clear if "the need" ever decends upon me. Most working smokers (including those who work at home) used to take smoke breaks. Those little parcels of time were very valuable, not for the smoking but for the break. The break was a time away, a time to think (or not), a time to recover. The smoking was just a distraction and an excuse. Now that you've quit smoking you may feel like you can't take a break. Maybe you don't trust yourself yet. Or maybe you just don't have a clue how to take a break without a cig (been there!). As with everything else about your quit, this is a learning process. Breaks are very important to those who take them (I know very few who don't) and should not be abandoned. If you don't trust yourself to go to the old smoking place yet, then go somewhere else. Instead of just going out for a smoke, go out and walk around the block or parking lot. Wander the halls. Go to the break room and read part of the newspaper, or a book, or ???. Try to get to know the non-smokers. Bet there aren't too many you've really talked with on a social level. You can try breaking with your old smoking buddies, but be cautious. Smokers don't tend to like quitters; they see them as a threat. If you get the slightest urge or temptation, get out fast! And if you have a choice, stay upwind. The stink will cling all day if the smoke passes over you (been there, too). But do not do without the breaks you've become used to. They are a time of distraction and decompression and are very important.
