Kim, The decision to quit smoking in itself is such a huge step in the right direction. It is important when deciding to quit, that we quit for the right reasons and that we truly feel we are ready to quit smoking. Honesty with one self is key to a successful quit. Be true to yourself and your endeavor to quit smoking and you will successfully succeed. If you have not, please take advantage of our free quit program as you access your glove compartment when logging on to our site. This program will help you through each step of the quitting process. Remember the SSC Support Team is always here to help you with your quit. Please keep us posted. Melanie ________________ The SSC Support Team

Thank you!!!! I know I am ready. I've been 'ready' for years, but it truly feels different this time. I have support now, and just a different feeling all around about it. I know I will be fine. And don't worry...I will be close by tomorrow!!!! Thank you again, Kim

Okay. Tomorrow is my quit day. I have educated myself, read everything I possibly could about this addiction and what to expect when quitting, and I have prepared for this for 3 weeks now! I have a list of alternate activites, a zip-loc bag to carry with me with gum and hard candy in it, my "Good-bye" letter to my cigarettes has been written, printed, and will remain in my purse, the ashtrays have been collected and are awaiting disposal. Tonight I will stop at the store to get a supply of cranberry juice and "healthy" snacks. I am ready. I have been ready. I have been excited for this day for 3 weeks now. So why am I a nervous wreck??? With each one I smoked today (only 6 since 5:30 am), I have found myself saying, "This will be the last time I have one when I first wake up...the last one with my AM coffee, the last one on my drive to work, the last one on my break with my smoking co-workers...etc." Then I get this panic feeling. I can't describe the feeling. It's panic, but a strange panic. Lord help me!! I want this soooooo bad! Maybe I will post my Good-bye letter, to make it feel like I am actually handing it to someone. Tomorrow I will get out of bed, change the routine a little, take a deep breath and face the world as a non-smoker. Wow. It really seems too good to be true. Thanks for your help! Kim Tomorrow I QUIT!!!! :8o:

Bagsgirl, you sound exactly like I did at my quit. My daughter even made the comment of my last smoking night that I was hyper and ready for tomorrow - quit date! I used Zyban with no NRT and have had a relatively uneventful first two weeks without smokes. I planned, read, consulted with doctor, packed 'goodie' bag',etc. just like you. I honestly believe that my quit was no less than a miracle from above. This is the first time that I decided for myself that I wanted to quit for myself. Keep in touch!

Congrats on your quit! It is terrifying to give up something that is such a part of you. You may wonder how life will be without your old pal nicodemon joining you. You know what? More people are living smoke free than are not. Life lives so much better without being bound and chained to those darn cigs! The only thing to fear is fear itself. Embrace the unknown and welcome the new discoveries that come with experiencing a smoke free life for the first time in many, many years. You won't believe what a wonderful world awaits. Stay close to us, stay strong, and stay quit. And post this all over your home "N. O. P. E." Not one puff, ever. Kim, What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. The hardest part about quitting is actually getting started. If every cigarette you smoke today is a ceremonial farewell then so be it. There is nothing wrong with that. I think you are recommitting yourself to your quit by reacting that way. It's a scary feeling to wake up and not be a smoker any more but that is exactly what happens. Don't let any situation or thinking pursuade you from accomplishing your goal. You say goodbye to all your cigarettes today and wake up tomorrow ready to start a new life. It's a tough road to travel but we will help you along the way. Make sure you have a plan for when things get tough and stay close to the site. Congratuluations on your decision to quit. You will not regret it!
