Redrosie, I have two boys. The older one who is eight has been one my case to quit since last summer. Many kids his age are very aware of the dangers smoking poses, and they really despise it. I sooo hope it will stay this way, and the one thing to make sure of it is to not smoke myself. Fish and Polly, thank you. Fish put it very well: Let's end the chain of smoking in our families. Hi Redrosie, I don't mind at all. I truly believe that if your mom, your grandparents, and my dad could, they would tell us to hang in there, and that they are proud of us. So let's stick to it. For us, for our families, and for them. i'd like to join you guys in ending the chain of smoking in my family line, too. I don't have any kids, yet, but I pray that I will educate them well enough to make the choice to be smoke free. sad, but excellent, post. fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,068 Amount Saved: $175 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 28 Seconds: 2

Wonderful post. Brought tears to my eyes. I hope you don't mind if I add my sad list as well. My grandfather Bill-lung cancer. My grandmother Marjorie-breast cancer. My grandmother June- breast cancer. My wonderful mom, Patricia- breast cancer. I miss and love them all. My Mom passed away at home 4 yrs ago. My Dad and I nursed her til the end. It was the worst and best thing I ever went through. She hung on for 9 mths after her diagnosis. After her death, I became a blood donor in memory of her. She had to have so many tranfusions. I will now also be a non-smoker in tribute to all my relatives that have passed on. Oh yeah, I forgot to say.... They were all smokers.redrosie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 587 Amount Saved: $199.2 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 13 Seconds: 47

Thanks Gaby. We sure have put our commitment out there haven't we. We must stay strong for ourselves and our families. I don't know if you have kids or not, but I know I want my families smoking history to stop here, now, with me. When I was growing up it seemed that everyone smoked. There wasn't the awareness then just how bad it was for your health. I went to Ontario when I was 15 to visit my grandparents and they let me smoke, and even gave me cigs. That is something we would never allow our kids to do now. Luckily, my kids are aware and are really disgusted with smoking. I never smoked around them, but they are so happy I quit.Keep Close, Keep Strong :)redrosie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 587 Amount Saved: $199.2 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 16 Seconds: 10
