joyful, Stay strong. Make good use of your coping mechanisms. When a craving sets in late in the night take a nice hot bath, try some meditation or relaxation techniques. Keep to this quit, you are doing fantastic. Melanie __________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey Guys !!!! I am with you all on the.. "who cares ??" syndrome. I get it too. But, I recall that I used to get it when I smoked too. Starting a project of some kind helps me not get stuck in the rut though. I actually feel depressed if I don't accomplish at least one good thing a day. I am thinking of joining a gym.. But for today, I'm going to start planning a garden. Picking flower types.. bushes.. Smoking won't make it any better.. only we can. Hang Tuff you all ! Hey everyone, I am thinking that the skills we are using to quit smoking will also work for eating right and losing weight. Food is so much like smoking. We eat when we are upset, depressed, bored not just when we are hungry. We use it as a drug just like we did with smoking. I think if we look at it that way we can eat right and exercise for the same reasons we quit smoking. Ladies, I'm right there with you. I seem to be entering a phase I call "I don't give a flying fig (Newton) about _________" and then fill in the blank. I was doing very well earlier with excercising, watching what I ate etc. I bought a bag of chocolate Easter eggs the other night, and I am DIABETIC! I should know better than that, right? But I didn't give a flying fig (Newton) at that point - good thing it wasn't a pack of smokes, although the "want" had been there pretty much all day! At any rate, just wanted to add my two cents worth! No one's alone in this journey - someone always has a related tale to tell..... ciao Sheryl My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 82 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,236 Amount Saved: $553.5 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 10 Mins: 29 Seconds: 27

*hugz* all around and Wooo Hooo for Cherie's meter ;) -- Cherie, :) One other thing. *even though that hug was all you needed right?~lol* 1)It has been said we have to experience the lows to know when to recognize the highs. *doesn't seem fair but I suppose it is true* You have more good days than bad days. That is the blessing. Hello Joyful. Life Still Happens. You hit the nail on the head. I have too much life happening and have been thinking along the same lines as you lately. Thank you for posting this and letting me see I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I'm either really up or really down too. What I wouldn't give for some happy medium. The really up is fine but that really down drives me nuts! We all know that a cigarette wouldn't fix a thing (by the way you said the forbidden word, Newport). All the ajustments we have to go through without smoking. I wouldn't dare smoke now (this is a up day) and I know you wouldn't either but how long does it really take to ajust to life without smoking? Maybe that is the new million dollar question. Maybe it isn't an adjustment at all. Maybe this is just life as a non smoker. I am working so hard on trying to stay possitive, trying to change the way I think, trying to change the way I handle things, and trying to just get through each day. (LOL - I can hear golferman now 'are you "trying" or are you doing it'.) And I've been trying to lose weight and exercise too and haven't been too successful at that either. Anyway...didn't mean to ramble so on your thread. I just want you to know I'm right there with you! Life still happens. What a concept.
