That is wild but it really does make sense. When the dust kicks up here, we always make sure my 5 year old stays in because he has COPD. Even though he never gets out into the wind, he always requires added breathing treatments. He doesn't have regular reactions and have quick asthma attacks like most kids do but, get him near dust and his breathing starts to shut right down. He is allergic to dust in particular. We are just allergic to what we are. Smoke is proven to mask allergies and you have a perfect cause and effect case. very interesting !! Hang Tuff !! Wow Shevie, you're post sure makes me appreciate the fresh country air I breathe in everyday. Smog is a problem I never have to worry about. The world and worries you have are very foreign to me, yet your cause and effect scenario does make a lot of sense. I am sure there must be lots of positives about where you live that keep you there. Now that you have put these pieces together, you can do what you have to do to keep yourself healthier. hi shevie i know what you mean, as i live in the valley of the sun also, and the smog and dirty air is sometimes too much to take. I seem to get headaches when it is really bad, and when i smoked, i would smoke more on those days. It has been really bad this year, hope we get some rain soon. I still get the headaches, i just dont smoke anymore to deal with it. shevie i think i do crave more when i have headaches, or whenever i dont feel good. The headaches im sure come from the pollution, because otherwise i dont usually get them. Could be much worse though, a couple of years ago i spent some time in China and the pollution was much worse than it is here in az. doodle My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,859 Amount Saved: $460 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 19 Mins: 45 Seconds: 9

Shevie, I posted just after you buy did not read yours until after, even used the connection word! I don't get a flutter but a pressure which is a down grade from pain when I still smoked. My lungs also fill with mucus during the night when I sleep. And yes, when I worked the pollution did cause me some distress, plus my partner chained smoked. In my case, (I think) and perhaps yours, my lungs are so gucked up that I'm still clearing out. No disease but not clear. To date smoking is the dumbest, bar none, thing I've ever done and quitting the smartest. When I smoked I just didn't pay much attention to my lungs or pollution. I do now. Thanks Shevie. Somebody send Shevie "da plane boss, da plane!" Well, I'm glad it turned out to only be an allergy!! (you know what I mean dontcha? :confuse: ;p) ---
Same as waking up after a night out with a chest so tight from too many smokes that you had to light up again
Flatlander, I can remember that feeling too. (after a night out with smokers at a party) No more for us though. We quit fueling the fire. The world is a mighty huge place. I don't think I have ever seen smog. Only on the news (and I'm not a complete hick stuck away in a remote igloo). I don't doubt at all that the pollution encouraged you to smoke more. Same us waking up after a night out with a chest so tight from too many smokes that you had to light up again. Update: Just after midnight Saturday morning last weekend it (finally, glory!) started to rain. Rained all day Saturday and off/on about half the day Sunday. Prior to that was about 3 - 4 days of wind. Our brown cloud was finally done in and the air is clean. And I've only had a couple of hints of the nagging feeling since I got up Saturday morning. Both times I was stuck at a traffic light next to a pickup truck with a diesel engine. Both times the feeling vanished as soon as the light changed and my van aired out. This problem has been pollution all along. This morning it's rained some more and that'll help keep things clean a bit longer. So this is what smoke-free is like. It's just the most marvelous feeling. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 300 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,012 Amount Saved: $1140 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 0 Mins: 57 Seconds: 21
