Duffis, I have no idea what this was about and did not read the post or the reply to it. What I can tell you is that in my opinion you are a genuine and honest man. I do not really know you but I do know how long it takes to think about and compose some of the posts that you have put up. I am also sure that you have touched and enhanced the lives of many people, not only in the ssc but outside it. I made an insensitive post the other day and was horrified when I read a bit more into the history of the person I was giving a load of "tough love" to. I realised that I had been out of order and had made a mistake. My motives were sound......to try to help the person stop smoking.....I just went about it in the wrong manner. I was lucky..............Josie removed the post before too many people.....and importantly the person it was aimed at, saw it (the advantages of getting up before all you lazy across the pond dwellers). We all make mistakes.............we are human. I would hope that the person you are concerned about will not judge you on one isolated experience. You are a wonderful guy and don't you forget it! Brenton (and that's the first and the last time that you will see my full christian name! My mother's name is Brenda and my father's name is Tony. They took part of each name to make mine........I'll leave you to work out what I could have been called if their names had been different!). Hi everyone- I think the whole key to all of this is the simple fact that we are typing words back and forth to each other. There are no voice inflections, no faces to see, and what we have said before is often difficult to find because this site is so huge. That said, I think you, Duffis, are great for posting the above. Bravo, and happy clean air to all!! old SILVER My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 123 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,718 Amount Saved: $799.5 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 5 Mins: 46 Seconds: 53

No harm, no foul, Duff-alicious, now i'm really pushin' it ..(only to make you smile). You are a gentleman and a scholar. Your posts are always insightful and intelligent plus email among strangers can get dicey. And the lesson for me is stick to the subject of the quit! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 179 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,597 Amount Saved: $895 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 17 Mins: 16 Seconds: 59

Congratulations, Duffis, both on your anniversary and for your wife's decision to quit. I remember from past posts that her health issues are of great concern to you. With you being "head cheerleader", I am sure that she will be successful this time. I feel people with smoking spouses deserve special kudos. I could NEVER do it. Again, I want to thank you for your eloquent and very moving apology. Given your history, I knew immediately that that post was completely out of character and you were just having an "off" day. Moving on.....my back is fine today and I'm going back to the gym. It's alot like the quit. Agony at first but with an excellent outcome a few months down the road. There are rewards in being healthy that are totally unexpected and just feel so dam good...breathing, being strong and fit. Life is good and very good. NOPE, Janet :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,611 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 19 Mins: 27 Seconds: 29

Look down, Bob. Bet you have a belly button. That is just proof that you are human! Humans make mistakes!! Didn't see your post, but if it was a mistake, I am certain that is all it was. You have way too much history here, way too much credit, way to many examples of wisdom or caring, for ANYONE to assume anything else. Be as gentle with yourself as you are with others. This will, with no doubt in my mind, be the most difficult post by me to date. I have been a member of the SSC for almost a year now and have posted many thoughts, ideas and articles of interest to contribute to the quitting process. Being a male in this majority of women membership has not been easy when it comes to replying to a lot of the posts. Sensitivity, awareness and tact are prerequisites for me to answer or respond to a post. What happens when a flash of anger or it just hit me wrong occurs and I suddenly show my ignorance with a definite out of line response? Let me tell you. I spend the day feeling guilty, saddened and very upset with my self. Smoggone please accept my sincere apology for this mornings post, I feel that I was wrong to have said what I did. Duffis
