For someone who is really struggling.............

18 years ago 0 125 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
It's been really hard for me to read some of her posts. I have had my share of struggles, but comparitively speaking, her story makes my quit seem rather easy. I have not responded because I didn't feel like I had the right words to help her. I do hope she got in to see a doctor today and he will be able to help her. I think she talked about having as assistant so maybe she could pick a few days to only schedule a light enough work load that her assistant can handle by himself. She really, really does need the few days to deal with herself. So, for lack of better words...to our lovely dog groomer...take the time you need, get the professional help you need, but always stick with the quit, you are worth it, your health is worth it, and you can do it, just dig a little deeper. We will be here through her ups, downs, trials and triumphs. I too have followed her story. She and I have the same, or nearly the same quit date I believe. She has been there for me and I hope I can return the favor anytime she needs it. I believe she will keep her quit. I believe she is a fighter and that once she realizes how tough she is and begins to believe in herself, her path will be clear and she will kick ash on this nasty habit. With this newfound strength, I believe she will have the fortitude to face the other trials in her life. I have been reading as well and my heart goes out to our dog groomer.. I may not always have the right words to say or may not post often but I am always here reading and posting when needed.. And this is needed.. We are here for you and please don't smoke!! I understand what you are going through as I work at a Vet and it has been extremely difficult for me as well. Dealing with the animals and their owners can be quite taxing!!! I know that you would never want to hurt an animal so please go to your doctor find out what's really going on. None of us here want you to lose anything least of all your business that I am sure you have worked so hard to get. I have been following a real battle being fought by someone who is terribly addicted to the nicotine and who is really struggling. I don't want to name the person but I am sure that you will all recognise our lovely dog groomer. I understand her struggles and concerns because I have found the battle against this evil drug just as hard. We have seen junky talk from her, problems with tremors possibly masked by smoking and what must be terrible concerns with her business and financial worries. If this was not enough, the realisation that both her and her partner have serious smoking induced health concerns. Does it not want to make you want to make the chief executives of the tobacco companies explain the peddling of their addictive product to her face! We have seen an outpouring of concern and support for her on the site, even after 15 days of quit and a slip. I would just like to ask everyone who reads this to post a response to show her just how much we care.........and in return, to ask her not to smoke............because that is the only thing that we cannot do for her. I think this is really what this site is all about and for once I have left the jokes in the drawer. We love our dog groomer. Mad sad englishman. Smoking in men is a tragedy because a lot of the damage was done in the 1940s and 1950s, before the tobacco industry was aware of how dangerous cigarettes were. But in women it's a crime because the cigarette companies made a conscious decision to market to women in the 1960s, after they knew, and a lot of women are now addicted as a result. I don't know why quitting is easier for some than it is for others. I have had a very difficult quit myself but it was the support of people like you Brent that helped me to keep going. Just knowing that someone cared about "my" quit helped tremendously. For our doggroomer...I posted to your thread but I wanted to add that for me quitting was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I really thought I would go insane. I still have my moments from time to time and wonder what am I doing. All you can do is put your best foot forward and keep moving. Eventually you get to where you want to be. I too was very shaky and very dizzy for about the first 60 days of my quit. I had a hard time focusing on anything and there were a lot of times I though "Oh Why Bother". Well, I'm here to tell you why. Because your life is worth it. Your life as a nonsmoker will be nothing like that of a smoker. It is worth it and words cannot describe the freedom feeling. Believe that. Hold onto it with everything you have and keep doing whatever comes next. You CAN do this. Brent...there is one more thing we can do for our friend. We can all pray. Let's add this member of our quit family to all our prayer lists. We are here for you. Great idea, Brent, a mad, sly Englishman with a heart of gold. I've been following her story, even though I haven't posted much concerning it. I feel really sorry for the dogs that were injured (big dog lover here), but I realize it wasn't due to her negligence. Explaining to her face isn't enough, IMO. The tobacco execs should support her until she's got her quit and any other problems that were masked by the smoking under control and can do her job. They're the ones marketing this crap, all the while lying about its addictiveness. I too have been following said anonymous dog groomer's story, and if said anonymous dog groomer is reading this thread, I just want said anonymous dog groomer to know that I stand among this large crowd of people in support of your quit. You're in my thoughts.
