Change, I'm on day 3 of hell. I have Wellbutrin and lozenges and I KNOW this will be the last time for me. I have a three year old boy and I keep his picture on me at all times. When I crave I pull out that picture and say to myself, "I WILL DIE IF I SMOKE...No joke. I WILL DIE". It's not about the money, the peer pressure, even about what it does to me. It's for him. I want to live. To see him grow up. To see my grandkids. To see sunsets when I'm 80. If you don't stop you too will die, and you'll always remember this note on your hospital bed. This is so blunt, but it is the truth. There will be a day when you will look at a sunset, your children, whatever, and enjoy it MORE than you ever will without a cigarette in your hand. Because you know you will be there to see it all again. And again, and again. Take your smokes and flush them on a morning...be ready for the nicotine loss, and everytime you crave call for support...EVERYTIME. People care about you and people need you more than you ever know.

Hello Change. Hey, take it easy guy, you'r not coming up with anything new, and nothing you have or feel that nobody else had had or had felt. Welcome to the land of addicts, here you should feel at home. It sounds like your ambition is bigger than your ability, your aim is higher than your reach; that's why you feel the way you do. You want to soar with the eagles and your wings are still small. You,r biting more than you can chew. Humble yourself a little, know who you are, what are your capabilities, how far is your reach, and set your goals accordingly. Take success small steps at a time, you'll get there. Don't think of being almighty pure and free at this time. Be content that every day you live is better than the day before even by a small measure. Walk slow and feel your steps, much better than jumping then falling and breaking your neck. Good luck. I am not willing to negotiate or put my Quit in any kind of harm's way. I am trusting myself with me and my Quit - Change -are you willing to trust yourself with you and your Quit? With that kind of resolve, anyone can do it. We are all here for you - new and seasoned Quitters. The support here is what has kept me focused, and we are here 24/7 - If you are willing, make your Quit day the New Day - the New You. And just put one foot in front of the other. JUST DON'T SMOKE! Welcome Change! I agree with what the other is saying; when you want to quit more than you want to smoke, you will make it. I believe that it is very important to prepare the quit. I have tried so many times before (smoking for 35 years) and I have only made it to day 3 before. This time I used "Herbal pills' together with a CD that I bought to help with the quit. I played the CD everyday for a week on my way to and from work until I felt I was ready to quit. The CD helped me to think positive about my quit and it also made me understand that there is no value at all to smoke. The CD also tought me to do relaxation breathing witch I have found very helpful. I sat a date for my quit and when the day come I was fully prepare and convinced that I didn't want to ever smoke again. Since my earlier attempt to quit I knew that my most difficult day was day 3, so I made that day to be a Saturday (so I didn't have to work.) I use the Herbal pills, which took away some of the worst cravings and if i would try to smoke it would taste awful and get me dizzy as well. I started to walk every afternoon and this helps a lot too. It has not been easy, but it is possible to do if you really want to. Some days are better than others, but for every day that goes by I am closer and closer to be the person I want to be; a non smoker! CBG, I couldn't tell you how many times I have stopped smoking, and I know what you are talking about when you say you are a closet smoker I was one for years. There were very few people knew that I smoked. Because I never smoked in public. I always made sure my hair was clean and the clothes I had on were washed and didn't smell like smoke. I never smoked in my home, and let me tell you living in the Blue Ridge Mt's in the Winter it was not very pleasent to go outside to smoke. But being an addict it didn't matter how cold it was. Rain, snow, or sleet didn't stop me. Last November I began to get shortness of breath, dizzy, and chest pain. That was when I really got concerned, but I didn't go to the Dr. until Feb. of this year. I had a Nuclar Stress Test, but thank God everything was okay. I had already quit on Jan 7, 2006. I know that I am rambling on and on but for some reason I think you need to hear this, my husband was told he had lung cancer March 7, 2005. And yes he had smoked for years. He died 23 days later and did I quit smoking "NO", because to me I was in denial or what ever you want to call it. I didn't think anything would happen to me. I did not know that I was an addict, I really didn't. I was doing something that was legal. Oh, how wrong I was, I just hope that I didn't wait too long. Yes, it is the hardest thing I have ever done, and yes I may fall tomorrow but I will do my damn best to fight to the end. So What are you wainting for?? No one is going to come and wave a magic wand over us and it will all be over with. Somethings are worth fighting for. And I think that you are worth fighting for so put on your boots and lace them up tight and get ready to battle. You may loose some battles but the most important thing is you will win the WAR!!! I agree with the others I think you should ask your Dr what would be best for you. I used the patch and did really well untill I took it off and then all hell broke loose and that is when you have to believe in yourself and say I CAN DO THIS, AND I WILL DO THIS!! Please continue to post and I look forward to your April 1, post. CBG, It's Sunshine again, I can't get you off of my mind tonight or this morning. I have this daily calendar on my desk and at the beginning of each month it will have a quote. For the month of April and I know that you have set your quit date for April 1st and I feel like this quote is for you it is a quote by Bauer: BELIEVE. That one word taken to heart can change your life. Believe in God's power to transform you and situations around you. Believe in yourself and the talents God gave you. Believe and there is no limit to what you can accomplish. This month say "I BELIEVE I CAN" Whenever a challenge arises, expect spectacular results! God will give you the strength to do this quit if only you believe when you ask. Read Lady's message in Riverdale Man and His Stories. She said it so well. Take some quiet time for yourself, I find it best for me in the morning that is when I read and meditate. Blessings are sent you way.... Change, your are welcome, I was so afraid you may be offended by what I was sharing. I never want to offend anyone, I only want to help in anyway that I can. With the help you will find here you can do this. Yes, I know that there is a plan and purpose for each of us being on this planet earth. If only we could find the plan, but that has to be something we have to find for ourselves, with God's help. Don't be so hard on yourself, give yourself some slack. There is failure in every thing that we do. I know that I have a fear of failure, but we have to continue on this journey. Did you read Riverdaleman's message on patients this morning? You need to read that. I think it is something you can draw from. Look on the forum title RIVERDALEMAN AND ALL HIS STORIES.... Stay close to the site and keep on posting and I will be looking for your post and April 1, Blessing sent your way!!!!
