At 200 days Ken, you have proved that you can handle anything....and posting here for support rather than giving in is a sign of your coping ability. You are an inspiration to us all so deep breaths and a big reward? After all....look at the money you have saved! Ken, You probably hit a really strong trigger. I've noticed that it happens from time to time. I believe that is why they tell us you have to go through a full year to be quit. Try treating the crave like a joke. Someone told me that and it really helps. Why in the world, after 200 days would any of us smoke. That's just silly! Laugh it off. :) When all else fails, go back to the coping skills you developed in the beginning. You have always been strong in your quit. I know you won't give in now. I too have had thoughts of smoking but they are just that.... Passing thoughts. Thank God we no longer smoke! Hope the kids are doing well. Glad to see you are still Smober. Congratulations on making it 200 days. Hey Ken! Long time, no see. I'm glad to see you back here, but I wish it were under better circumstances. I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time right now. Just remember that throughout life, we're going to have hard times... even if we smoked. And a smoke won't make things better either. Just keep on doing what you've been doing for the last 200 days! What I do when I have a really bad craving is I go back and read some of my old threads that I started waaaaaaaaaay back when we started this whole thing. That'll remind you that it's not as bad now as it was back then. You made it through SO much before, you can certainly do it now. Hang in there and welcome back. Don't be such a stranger, k? Crave the Quit! Hi Ken, Because nicotine is an addiction, just like heroine, cocaine, meth, or any other narcotic. You have made a great decision to quit destroying your health by smoking. You have been quit for over 200 days???? You should know how to handle the cravings. You must of handled many, many so far into this quit. Just take a deep breath, take a hot shower, read a good book, have a snack, go for a walk, and thank the universe that you aren't feeding this horrible addiction anymore. My best to you! The feelings are due to the fact that you are a nicotine addict.....get yourself a journal and write all this down.....what happens is a bit like childbirth.....after it's over, you feel free and you tend to even forget over the long haul how hard it was to quit smoking. A journal will refresh that memory when you later on feel tempted to smoke the proverbial "just one" hang tough....it will get better katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1480 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 59,212 Amount Saved: $8140 Life Gained: Days: 193 Hrs: 2 Mins: 0 Seconds: 59

Ken, Sounds like you are heading in the right direction on becoming a successful quitter. The most common questions when quitting smoking is dealing with withdrawal symptoms. Each smoker has different withdrawal symptoms indeed yours will be unique! Although they may be unpleasant, they do pass. When you experience withdrawal symptoms, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery. Your body is in the process of healing itself. Think of withdrawal symptoms as growing pains. You need to come up with a plan! When a craving sets in, think about what are you going to do or what you can do to not give in! Try writing down some coping techniques to particular scenarios. For example, the house is clean there is nothing to do and the cravings kicks in. You have already eaten and you are in a state of panic. Try leaving the house, go for a walk, call a friend, jump on the site, have a shower. Anything that takes your mind off of temptation is beneficial. Quitting smoking is not easy and that is why we are here! We are here to help you learn on how to quit smoking and be successful. You can do this! Keep us posted and be sure to jump back on the site to let us know how you have coped with your cravings. We all learn from each other! Keep Strong, Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
