8 days now!

Good for you - 8 days - I am at 15 days. I know exactly how you feel about your friend being tempting to you. I feel the same way-last night I went to a party and you know what - only 2 people smoked (outside) and it didn't bother me a bit - when I think about it there are more friends and relatives I know that didn't smoke>and they are so proud of me. I'm pretty proud of myself. Me and my hubby were the exceptions and boy it feels good not to deek out for a cigarette. It REALLY is getting better - I still need a lower dose patch though - I can feel the difference when I don't have one on. As time goes on (I know I have a long way to go) -it does get easier. I sure ate a lot though last night. Have to watch that. Got my bike out today. I have more energy definitely. Keep it up!!!! Hi everyone - thanks for all of the advice! I took every word to heart and I am proud to say that I got through it!! We sat outside and ate (ok I was a little more indulgent in the chips and salsa then usual =) but she smoked and I thought about how unattractive it looks. She was very proud of me for not partaking and i think I may have sparked an interest in her to quit! YAY! That would be awesome... so thanks again and I am feeling really good and owe it to everyone here! I agree...go to the movies, or someplace where she is uncomfortable and out of place, not you. She isn't fighting for her life...you are. If she's that good of a friend she will understand.

Pitstop - How about neutral territory? A restaurant with an outside patio, so if she has to smoke (and she may not to help you out) it will be "outside". I think people closer to us realize it may be tough. She will most likely opt not to smoke for a couple of hours to honor your commitment to quitting. Well, that's what I would do. Have a fun time and focus on telling her about your success so far. Brag on my friend. Don't forget to put up your quit meter when posting, it's encouraging! Pitstop - Great news, glad to you made it through this, one more accomplishmnet for you. It's nice also to know that you may have inspired something in her to think about quitting as well. I see a lot of that in other people's eyes when I tell them how well my quit is going. You're a star! Hi Pitstop - Hmmm -a tough one... I know that for me, I will do anything I have to to protect my Quit - AND I MEAN ANYTHING... I would ask her not to smoke, and let her know that I would love to see her AND that I need her support in this... But that's just me:) Blessings- My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 59 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,087 Amount Saved: $274.35 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 17 Mins: 40 Seconds: 15

Pitstop, WOW! look at you go, your through hell week, and almost through heck week. Watch out for boredom in the week ahead. Your body is over the physical and now the mental fight starts. So arm yourself well. Get out all the keep you busy things, and all the reasons not to smoke, and all the ways to keep from it. This part of the journey is just as important as removing the smoke. Whatever happens, breath and keep walking..you can do this.
